The Commercial Technology Chief Architect is responsible for defining Capital One Commercial Bank’s architecture strategy for leveraging emerging trends and technologies in support of business needs. You will be responsible for leading a team that researches and explores new trends, opportunities and technology providers. You will partner with our business executives, but also engage with senior technology leadership to develop recommendations on leveraging disruptive technologies. You will actively participate in pilots including onsite support in the NYC Innovation Lab. You will ensure new technologies are aligned to internal policy/standards and a good fit with existing environments. And you will develop buy-in to the strategy and monitor execution to ensure guidelines are followed.

Responsibilities:

Partner with the Commercial Technology team to prioritize research opportunities, assess and develop plans to use emerging technologies into Capital One’s Technology environment
Lead a team of architects to define the technical approach to respond to a complex delivery roadmap and partner with the technology teams to implement solutions
Provide technical leadership and oversight/governance to the Commercial Technology team
Stay ahead of the curve on emerging technologies, and provide recommendations for adoption when they align with business needs and capabilities
Build strong working relationships with key vendor partners required to execute our strategy
Provide consultation to internal business customer to provide solutions that are strategic to the technical standards as well as business needs
Mentor architects, tech leads and developers within Commercial Tech
Build metrics to show progress towards targets
Create and maintain divisional standards, procedures and notices for Commercial Bank and ensure compliance to the standards within the Enterprise Architecture Policy
Chair a Divisional Architectural Review Committee to review divisional architectures and alignment with EA standards and policies
Leverage shareable platforms, services and capabilities where available and identify divisional platforms, services and capabilities that can be shared
Provide input to the ECA on architecture standards and strategies as a member of the Enterprise Architecture Review Council
Experience in the financial services industry
Excellent oral and written communication skills and an ability to present and discuss technical information in a way that establishes rapport, persuades others and builds understanding
Significant knowledge of industry technology trends and practical
real world implementations
Demonstrates resourcefulness, energy and persistence to achieve goals despite obstacles and difficulties

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information or military experience
At least 15 years of Technology Experience
At least 5 years experience in large scale systems architecture
At least 5 years experience in application design and development
At least 3 years organizational leadership experience
Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering or Information Systems or military experience
