The Sr Director of the Global Technical Partner Organization will lead the technical architect team in the development of joint solutions and deep relationships with our most strategic ecosystem partners. The Sr Director will be responsible for aligning with the VMware Business units and creating joint strategies while collaborating with the technical leaders across the RTM’s (SISO, OEM, etc) to ensure execution of a complete GTM.

The role requires an individual with strong leadership, technical knowledge across the VMware solution portfolio and who can transform and lead a high performing team; create and articulate a shared plan for VMware’s Technical strategy with our key ecosystem partners.
The ideal candidate possesses a unique blend of deep technical knowledge and business acumen; an ability to both envision based on market trends and partner opportunity, and the drive, influencing skills and ability to collaborate with a large number of constituencies to transform that vision into a reality.
More specifically, the role requires an individual with:
• Strong technical background across SDDC, Cloud/ Mobility and EUC) to develop joint solutions and execution against the Technology Partner Plan
• Ability to negotiate t the specific requirements of the VMware Business Units with the market opportunity across the WPO RTM’s.
• Ability to act as technical partner as partner choice, complexity or conflict develops
• Strong ability to partner with ecosystem to create win-win opportunities
Team leadership
• Recruit, motivate, mentor, coach, develop and retain a high performing team of technical architects respected and leveraged across the organization
• Create a team culture that encourages and rewards the joint partner wins accomplished
• Define the KPIs and scorecard to measure success for the team. Track key initiatives and identify levers for improving KPIs, and champion necessary initiatives to improve KPIs.
• Identify new market opportunities for VMware in the technical leveraging the technical partner ecosystem and champion strategic initiatives with the business units to capture new market opportunities
Required Qualifications and Experience
• Total of 10 plus years of technical alliance experience with an enterprise infrastructure / software company with a base of experience that spans some or all of product management, product marketing, technical engineering
• Experience leading a high performing technical team with global responsibility
• Demonstrated relationship skills collaborating across a broad constituents from VP of VMware Business units, VP of RTM’s and CTO executives at our Ecosystem partners
• Must have domain expertise in cloud and data center infrastructure and EUC with an ability to come up to speed quickly on other infrastructure domains
• Keen awareness of key technology and market trends and potential influence on VMware’s business
• Solid reputation as a thought leader and solid communicator of business impacts of technical solutions
• Ability to manage ambiguity (competition versus co-opertition) and partner complexity and conflict develops within the technical partner ecosystem
• Excellent listening, oral and written communication/presentation skills
• Strong teaming skills and experience to bring together diverse views
