This role will play a vital part in how we ensure that the Microsoft cloud takes advantage of the latest technology by managing the implementation of core infrastructure into new locations throughout the globe.

This will require a strong leader who can help evolve the provisioning process in an ever-changing landscape in order to position the business to capitalize on and leverage key industry trends. This is your opportunity to lead and develop our strategy in core infrastructure hardware provisioning.
The Senior Director of First Instance Deployments is focused on providing thought leadership across all areas of cloud infrastructure provisioning which enables Microsoft Cloud Services.
You will work with senior engineering leaders across the company to define the provisioning roadmap and to land the strategic vision necessary to consistently deliver cloud capacity globally.
You will craft recommendations and partner with corporate strategy, engineering, and go-to-market teams to drive the implementation of your recommendations through completion.
You will lead the First Instance Deployment team as well as virtual program teams to provision the various building blocks of our cloud based offerings.
You will be required to make binding schedule commitments to the various Microsoft Engineering Teams specific to GO LIVE and service ready dates.

This role reports to the General Manager of Deployment Engineering.

Commitments for this role include:
• Business strategy: Develop and land business strategies for MCIO specific to the new data center provisioning pipeline.
• Insights development: Lead business planners and partner with other data teams across our engineering organization to craft the insights needed to support business strategy and portfolio optimization initiatives that drive cycle time reduction through parallelization.
• Leadership: Coach a high performing team to hit key priorities and support thoughtful career planning with your direct reports.
• Continuous Improvement: Drive root cause analysis of previous deliveries and continually refine our approach that will increase our time to market for all new cloud data center locations.

Recommended Qualifications:
• 10+ years of strategy, consulting, or business planning experience in a cloud based technology business.
• Self-starter with strong financial and analytical skills; strong business judgement and acumen.
• Excellent problem structuring, identification, and resolution; strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Outstanding cross-functional project management and leadership skills leading to positive organizational change.
• Ability to influence across functional teams and at senior leadership/executive levels across engineering and operations.
• BA or BS or equivalent; MBA preferred.
• Minimum of 10 years of people management experience required.
• The ideal candidate will have a demonstrated track record of success who can create high impact ideas, and land strong analytical skills through the application of strategic frameworks to complex business decisions.
• Candidate must possess strong attention to detail, a passion for strategic thinking and problem solving, and ability to deliver rich, business insights to drive business decisions. Previous experience in running a P&L.
