Director Model Line Mid Full-size VW NAR G3 Volkswagen AG Chattanooga

• Implement the product strategy for the model line in accordance with the cycle plan.
• Define, plan, steer and track all cross functional objectives and measures of assigned G3 products for the brand in the region. This includes product content, costs, financial results, timing, quality, launch, risk management and lifecycle. Synchronize the activities with the product partners in the VW Group.

• Consolidate and evaluate of the product status including the initiation of cross functional counter measures to achieve objectives in coordination with product line Project Managers
• Balance conflicts of interest relative to the project's key performance indicators including returns, timing and quality.
• Steer and approve budget responsibility for each project within the model line in accordance with job share and approval guidelines.
• Prepare all necessary milestones and decisions along the product development process and represent the model line in all relevant Group product committees.
• Raise and analyze NAR specific market requirements and ensure the implementation for each project within the model line.

Role Responsibilities
• Steer the specific G3 NAR Mid-/Full size product (s) along the product development process
• Establish and execute the Product Team for specific product including lifecycle and necessary sub teams (Create an efficient cross functional work environment among all involved departments)
• Secure financial feasibility of the specific product over the lifecycle
• Represent the specific G3 NAR Mid-/Full size product (s) in the respective product committees
• Define long term goals for product enhancement over the lifecycle
• Improve awareness of the North American Region and transfer new relevant trends into the product/module planning and development process
• Help establish and follow reporting and decision making structures for the specific product within VWGoA and VW Group
• Define trends and concepts, analysis of US specific competitors and customer expectations
• Definition of competitive standards and deriving of respective financial targets
• Find and initiate measures to increase perceived product quality and customer satisfaction by highlighting market specific requirements
• Find, acquire and develop employee talent for product planning and management functions
• Align with all other NAR products to secure pursuit of common goals and observe standards

Qualifications

• 8 -10 years of professional experience in automotive related industry
• 5+ years of experience of automotive product and/or project management
• University degree in Business Administration, Economics or Engineering
• Knowledge and work experience with VW AG and affiliates of VW AG
• In depth commercial and technical product knowledge
• Outstanding communication skills
• Cross functional understanding and experience throughout the product development process
• Analytical and conceptual thinking – using logic and reason, creative and strategic approach
• Strong problem solving orientation and motivation to work around obstacles
• Ability to thrive with a varying level of ambiguity and uncertainty
• Strong interpersonal and teamwork skills, with a positive, solution orientated attitude
• Strong influencing and negotiation skills
• Ability to think entrepreneurial
• Resource management, steer and approve cost budgets for R&D, Purchasing, Quality Assurance and Production in accordance with approval guidelines
• Constant monitoring and adjustment of decided measures
