PayPal is looking for a thought leader in mobile & web development to lead various engineering teams focused on building new mobile apps and expanding web portals that service our 14 million merchants. You will be leading development teams that build our Node based web apps and iOS / Android based Mobile Apps that help millions of merchants to better manage their business and connect with millions of consumers effectively. You will lead our efforts to personalize these portals, partner with product to define a strategic vision for the portals and build / grow teams to execute flawlessly towards the vision.

Responsibilities:
Hire, develop and retain top talent and be responsible for the overall talent strategy and structure of the org.
Quickly learn the expectations of our 14M and growing merchant base around use of current portals.
Partner with product & design to leverage technology innovations such as Algorithmic personalization, search, widget based portal architectures and advances in Mobile to exceed the merchant expectations.
Provide thought leadership to the broad org around mobile app development and App Store Strategy.
Guide decisions on architecture and technical strategy.
Manage competing priorities, bring predictability to the team’s overall performance and delivery.
Take full accountability for quality, innovation and timely execution finding appropriate balance and pushing the envelope on all three dimensions.
Build a strong management layer to ensure solid bench and appropriate support for the rest of the team members.
Be a critical and active member of the overall merchant engagement leadership team.
Skillset:
10+ Years of development experience
2+ Years development experience on either iOS or Android, and have shipped apps to app store and/or Google Play
Web development experience across multiple stacks ideally either Node or Java or C++ being one of them.
4+ Years managing software development teams
Demonstrated ability to hire, develop and retain top technical talent
Experience working in a large matrix org collaborating with partners to co-own products
Experience building high volume customer facing applications at scale
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Fluent in good architecture design
Passion for easily readable code and interest in getting close to the code
Firm grasp of fundamental data structures and algorithms
Education : BS Computer Science or related technical discipline or its equivalent
