The IT Portfolio Director is responsible for the lifecycle of business ideas from intake to beginning project execution. This includes the capturing of business ideas into the portfolio's demand funnel, maturing those ideas into value-driven business cases, prioritization and balancing of the demand against other effort within the portfolio and coordination with Business and IT partners to develop a roadmap for delivery of the portfolio backlog.

The IT Portfolio Director is also responsible for managing the rolling financial forecast for the portfolio to include proposed projects, in-flight projects, and delivered projects. Finally, the director will manage the measurement of realization of value delivered to the business from portfolio projects introduced into the production environment. Ultimately the incumbent will be the hub of the wheel for Business Partners, Enterprise Architecture, Release Management, Infrastructure and Development.

Primary Responsibilities

Leads the collaboration and alignment with the Portfolio Executive, portfolio sponsors, IT and business partners to understand the impact of proposals and is responsible for maintaining the current view of the planned portfolio demand and the status of that demand through the entire demand, execution and delivery lifecycle.
Engages with portfolio executives stakeholders to capture ideas within the portfolio.
Produces value-drive value propositions and business cases.
Creates, manages and maintains a portfolio Roadmap of ideas, proposals and projects.
Creates, manages and maintains the Portfolio Backlog and evolution of ideas/proposals/projects within the backlog throughout the lifecycle.
Facilitates the portfolio executive and executive committee with prioritization of the demand backlog by providing clarity around details in the business cases for specific portfolio proposals.
Maintains a consistent view of the demand requirements within the portfolio.
Qualifications

Any combination of relevant education and experience and/or related professional designations/certifications in this field is highly desirable.

Education

Minimum Required: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Finance, or Business
Masters or MBA preferred
Experience

5-10 years' experience in Technology Finance, Program/Project Management Office (PMO) or Portfolio Management.
Prior experience in a public, Financial Services company a plus.
Essential Skills

Highly proficient in Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, SharePoint & Visio skills.
Knowledge of Project Management Methodology, Software Development Lifecycles including Agile and Waterfall.
Previous experience using HP PPM, or other Portfolio Management tool desirable.
Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
Ability to organize material, analyze a wide variety of facts and develop appropriate recommendations.
Strong presentational skills, capable of summarizing and communicating key project portfolio health and financial information at an executive level.
Excellent project- and time-management skills with the ability to multitask and meet deadlines while maintaining a high level of attention to detail.
Ability to train and mentor staff in project portfolio management processes.
Demonstrated ability to think strategically when planning and managing processes.
A strong work ethic: A self-starter who can solve problems creatively and work well with others in a cross-functional team environment.
Ability to work independently and within a team environment and remain flexible.
