The NA Shopper Marketing Director is focused on leading our vision to turn retail shoppers into Dell buyers. The NA Shopper Marketing Director is responsible for the planning, development and implementation of all marketing strategies, communications and initiatives that generate retail partner sell-thru, to hit the quarterly / yearly financial plans. This includes achieving sales out targets through all aspects of in-store and online marketing and merchandising – including effective promotional planning, in-store displays and signage, sales associate training and events, and online merchandising.

The primary responsibility of this role is to manage the NA (US, CA) Shopper Marketing Team, and oversee the strategy, budget, and execution of all shopper programs, as well as the continuous analytical assessment, and communication to internal stakeholders and executives.
The role will ensure the team develops effective programs at the retail account level that align with Brand strategy and deliver profitable growth to targeted product lines and channels. The role works closely with both Sales and Marketing acting as bridge between the functions to execute strategies in a way that enables efficient sales execution and drives profitable growth of prioritized product lines in targeted key accounts. This person will work closely with other cross-functional areas including Retail Sales, Consumer Direct Marketing (Dell.com), Small Business Marketing, Merchandising, Creative and the Media Agencies to design, build and execute retail programs.

Role Responsibilities

• Set the vision, strategies and plans for shopper insights and shopper marketing.
• Build and strengthen the organization and lead, coach and develop direct reports. • Identify and align on shopper insights.
• Align plans, expectations and investments with the brand-teams and the sales-teams.
• Set account budgets, and manage in-quarter budget adjustments to achieve plan. • Enable the activation of shopper marketing programs at retailers.
• Enable excellence of execution by building internal and agency capabilities.
• Strengthen capabilities to analyze report and improve effectiveness and efficiencies (ROI) of investments.
• Build and improve relationships and closely collaborate with key stakeholders in the brand-teams, sales-teams, agencies, suppliers, partners, other technology companies and select retailer contacts.
• Continually identify knowledge gaps in constantly evolving eCommerce and digital shopper space, develop experimentation plans focused on highest value opportunities, and optimize and share knowledge back with retail partners and Dell stakeholders.
• Meet vendor/partner funding requirements
• Align with retailers to drive traffic and awareness to the CE category focusing on category growth while positioning Dell as a collaborative category leader
• Push CE retailers to engage in evolving Shopper Marketing strategy, while still balancing Trade Marketing standards and expectations
• Drive best in class omni-channel marketing initiatives while influencing shoppers along the path to purchase

Qualifications

Requirements

• Prior experience in shopper marketing, trade marketing, category management, or retail merchandising
• 10+ years of experience in retail marketing with a track record of measurable results preferably in the consumer electronics or IT industry
• Prior experience working with major US consumer electronics retailer (BBY, Wal-mart, Staples, etc.)
• Prior experience directly managing budget in excess of $20M annual
• Prior experience in consumer package goods, outside technology industry.
• Strong analytical and budget management skills.
• Experience in managing agency resources.
• Four year degree required, MBA preferred.
• Experience managing a team made up of remote and headquarter based employees.
