This position reports directly to the Cummins Central Supply Chain Operations Functional Excellence Director and has direct reports as well as indirect reports across the Cummins Inc. Global Network. The individual in this role will work closely with Cummins Supply Chain Leaders across all Business Units and Support Functions (ex. Indirect Purchasing) to develop strategies as well as manage key initiatives to transform and continuously improve transportation management for the Cummins Inc. Enterprise.

Directs the design, development and implementation of systems and processes to facilitate the achievement of functional excellence.
Partners with the functional leadership to identify functional process, communications and talent needs and develops action plans to address those needs.
Coordinates and monitors the execution of the improvement program for the Function as a whole.
Directs implementing functional excellence across CMI globally (not just one business unit)
Participates in the COS Council.
Identifies key functional processes, determines key measures, and builds the functional implementation model.
Documents common aspects of key functional processes and works to ensure that processes, tools, and people associated with these processes are available and capable.
Works across multiple business units and ABO’s to drive improvements in common functional processes, tools, and people.
Works with cross-business unit Functional Excellence teams to ensure alignment of initiatives.
Responsible for the development and maintenance of Statements of Functional Excellence, functional scorecard with measures of functional excellence, and skills matrix of required competencies for the function.
Directs the development and maintenance of the Functional Assessment Checklist which is used to identify gaps in functional excellence implementation.
Ensure functional needs are met through Functional Talent Management processes.
Responsible for the communication process for the function (implementation of the communication strategy)
Qualifications
Experience
Significant relevant experience required, including managerial and budgetary experience.
Demonstrated project management experience leading large complex global projects.
Significant experience leading process re-engineering.
Experience working in the transportation management function across the globe
Experience and skill in budget preparation and fiscal management
Proven experience with developing and implementing new strategies and procedures to drive transformational change
Knowledge and experience with Transportation Management System (TMS)
Experience in the evaluation, management and selection of transportation partners and suppliers
Experience leading transportation network optimization efforts
Proven experience leading continuous improvement efforts in the transportation function

(2)DFSS (Design for Six Sigma): similar tools used in the product and process development work in order to achieve predictive design quality and meet Voice of the Customer requirements. (3)DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve, Control) Six Sigma: a disciplined approach to enterprise-wide quality and improvement and variation reduction using statistically-based tools.
