Amazon is seeking a General Manager to lead the Healthcare business, a new and highly strategic category at Amazon. Healthcare is a large industry but also a highly regulated one. We are looking for someone that can develop a visionary strategy and business case for Amazon’s healthcare business while also charting a path for how to navigate through the regulatory complexity. A successful candidate will be able to think big and create bold plans for how Amazon can apply its customer obsessed philosophy to the healthcare space. At the same time, this candidate will need to have high judgment and analytical rigor to ensure that the strategy incorporates solutions to the complexity inherent to the healthcare industry.

The Healthcare leader will need to wear multiple hats. S/he will need to be a strategic visionary capable of inventing new customer experiences for selling healthcare products online. It is still Day One in creating a world-class customer experience to address the unique aspects of online healthcare shopping. At the same time, this leader will need to be a relentless operator who manages a business with a high degree of detail-orientation. S/he will manage teams across four groups: Vendor Management/Inventory Management, a technology team, a product management team and an operations team. As leader of these teams, s/he is responsible for building strategic relationships with key vendor partners and third party platform sellers, terms negotiations, driving new selection additions, driving systematic improvements to inventory management, pricing optimization, content creation and optimization and identifying and championing new opportunities to grow the business and delight customers. S/he will be responsible for the Healthcare financial performance and owns the creation of all operating plans including monthly, quarterly and annual plans. This leader will also need to be adept at managing cross-functionally.

The primary goal for the Healthcare General Manager is to design and build an approach for Amazon to enter and succeed in the healthcare industry. Additional responsibilities will include:

Position Amazon as a destination for healthcare products
Build world-class team with shared “missionary” vision for the potential of Amazon’s Healthcare business
Partner with vendors to build selection, drive cost out of supply chain and create an exceptional customer experience
Set strategic direction for management of selection and assortment across channels and formats
Lead the team to develop the technology to support a highly regulated business

They will have earned the trust of vendors, peers, senior management and teams through challenging preconceived norms to grow a business focused on unparalleled customer experience, innovation and delivery of key strategic initiatives. S/he will have a demonstrable record of success at building a business, delivering results and sales growth, partnering cross-functionally, and professionally representing vendor perspectives and customer needs to the organization.
This position will also provide leadership beyond the immediate category, driving systems, processes and customer experience improvements that will benefit all categories across Amazon.com. Through an easy grasp of metrics and quantitative analysis, this leader will turn data into actionable programs and will also have a level of technical comfort that will enable him/her to understand key technical issues and the implications for the business. S/he will have implemented or improved processes to gain efficiency and experience driving continuous improvement. S/he will have a proven ability to manage change and deal with adversity and rapidly changing operating conditions while still delivering results. Successful General Managers have a broad skill set including people development, analytical horsepower, high business judgment plus vendor management and negotiations skills. Common traits include deep curiosity about how things work and a passion for creating a world class shopping experience for customers. Dealing with ambiguity, context-switching and operating at all levels of the organization - from long range planning to SKU-level deep dives.
