As the Data Center Energy Policy and Market Development Program Manager, you will manage energy related regulatory and policy issues for the Data Center Energy and Location Strategy team. In this role, you will work with a variety of internal teams along with external stakeholders including utilities, government officials, regulators, industry, and public interest groups to drive solutions that meet Google’s long-term energy needs. The role requires a strategic perspective on the energy industry, a solid understanding of electric utilities and their regulatory environment, and the ability to identify, build and cultivate working partnerships with utilities, regulators, and energy industry stakeholders, including NGOs.

Responsibilities
Analyze and establish Google’s priorities and positions on regulatory and policy issues related to Google’s global power supply.
Develop and drive public policy and regulatory initiatives in all markets where we operate data centers, both in the US and globally.
Work with the Google Public Policy team to establish and implement strategies to communicate policy positions to key constituencies.
Work with trade associations, industry partners, non-profit groups, and other allies to establish and understand constraints and opportunities to Google strategy and priorities.
Support energy related negotiations, working closely with the senior Strategic Negotiators.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
BA/BS degree in technology, science, law, policy or economics or equivalent practical experience.
7 years of relevant experience including working with utilities, regulators and energy industry stakeholders.

Preferred qualifications:
MBA or JD degree.
Direct experience working with the various institutions of government, including regulatory commissions, local, state and federal agencies, and international policy making bodies.
Experience with renewable energy (policy, investment, development, and representing the interests of buyers).
Creative approach to problem solving and ability to deal with ambiguity.
Exemplary business judgment, problem solving and analytical skills, along with the ability to effectively communicate with highly technical management team.
Exceptional oral and written communication ability and superb project management skills.
