Google Fiber is an exciting new business for Google, aimed at enabling next generation gigabit Internet connectivity. The Google Fiber team is deploying a Fiber-to-the-Home network capable of delivering gigabit connectivity to consumers. In this role, you will join the team responsible for developing PCBA, System assembly and test capability for the equipment used to build Google’s network.

Responsibilities
Perform Design for Manufacturability and Assembly (DfMA) analysis and deliver scalable manufacturing solutions for PCBAs and final assembly. Drive Automation and Advanced Manufacturing Technology opportunities in these areas.
Support released products until End Of Life (EOL), overseeing process yield control, cost reduction activities, commodity support and ongoing capacity planning. Identify and drive DfM and process improvements that reduce process cycle times and cost, while maintaining exceptional quality.
Support Ramp readiness activities including materials, final assembly equipment and NPI/Sustaining activity for fixtures, line layout, training and documentation.
Support NPI builds from concept to product launch, including build preparation, build reports and issue resolution at CMs, AMS and DCs. Using a Product Data Management (PDM) system, create and maintain Bills of Materials (BoM), Approved Vendor Lists (AVL), and Engineering Change Orders (ECO) in support of Google Products.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
BS degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
7 years of experience in Manufacturing Engineering, supporting New Product Introduction of high volume consumer or communications products. Experience of PCBA manufacturing processes and Final Assembly Test and Packaging (FATP) processes at CMs.
Experience using tools such as Valor and Allegro and PDM (e.g. Agile).
Experience with Lean Manufacturing/5S practices and IPC and ISO Standards.
Preferred qualifications:
MS degree in Industrial/Mechanical/Manufacturing Engineering.
Experience with Automation and Advanced Manufacturing Technology (AMT) related to Fiber Optics, Optical assembly or Wire Bonding.
Experience with advanced materials - underfills, thermal interface materials, RF shielding, etc.
Experience in Hardware Reliability Testing.
Effective interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
Ability to travel approximately 20% of the time.
