Manager Innovation Network Operations Google Fiber Mountain View

As the Manager of Innovation, you must build and lead a team of highly capable innovators, inspire them and provide them the support and environment to think big and go for moon shots that will enable us to speed up deployment and cuts the per households passed (HHP) costs. You will work closely with the Architecture, Engineering, Lab & Trials, Strategic Initiatives and deployment teams. You will also work with the Regional Network Deployment and Operations (NDO) teams, Product Management team and the Platform and Software development team. You will also guide the group’s engagement in industry forums and support engagement with vendors and suppliers on R&D direction and development. You will leverage their background in Carrier and ISP technologies and principles to drive innovation and optimization throughout all areas of the network.

Responsibilities
Guide and grow the Innovation team in order to support Google Fiber’s ongoing focus on innovation and rapid expansion of markets.
Be the liaison with other Google Fiber teams on topics of innovation, architecture and business development.
Mentor team members in their professional development, including guiding them in engagement with internal and external groups such as other Google teams, vendors and industry bodies.
Coordinate team activities and workload through task, milestone, and objective tracking along with metric reporting.
Qualifications
Minimum qualifications:
BA/BS degree in a technical field or equivalent practical experience.
5 years of management experience

Preferred qualifications:
Experience as a people manager, including management of teams across multiple geographies.
Strong understanding and practical experience in the telecommunications or ISP industry, including vendors, standards bodies and operators.
Proven ability to lead complex and innovative architectural projects, including work across corporate functions, locations, and/or teams.
Demonstrated ability to innovate.
Comfort with operating in a high-paced, changing work environment with the ability to prioritize multiple functions and tasks, manage time efficiently and navigate ambiguity.
Demonstrated good leadership and people management skills. Excellent written and oral communication skills.
