Amazon is looking for a seasoned leader to fill the position of Senior Manager, Global Planning Operations for Amazon’s entire portfolio of branded devices and accessories. This planning leadership role is central to the continued growth of the device division as we have grown from the first Kindle e-reader to a vast global portfolio of Fire tablets, Fire TVs, and most recently, Echo – Amazon will continue innovating and introducing new products.
The mission of the Planning organization is to deliver the most accurate forecasts, inventory targets, and allocation plans to ensure that every device customer worldwide is able to purchase the product they want, when and where they want it. In order to achieve this, the Planning team develops and uses advanced statistical models, optimization tools, machine learning algorithms, and big data solutions, to drive a full assessment of opportunities and risks as well as the detailed plans that allow for flawless execution for our customers.
In this role, you will need to be a visible leader, who earns the respect of Amazon’s most senior executives due to your experience, superb communication skills, cross-business understanding, and intellectual honesty – you must be as compelling with a team of statistics PhDs, software developers, and operations research engineers as you are in conducting written and verbal debates with the senior leadership of Amazon. You will have demonstrated broad strengths bridging from product and go-to-market business strategies to day-to-day planning along with an exceptional ability to simplify complex concepts and bring clarity to ambiguous situations. Infused throughout will be an innate customer intuition and focus that serves as the basis for all business decisions.
You will lead teams of research scientists, software developers, product managers, and business analysts to set strategic goals, define requirements and roadmaps, develop systems, and implement solutions that support the end-to-end processes of demand planning, pricing and promotion, instock management, procurement, supply chain, and logistics. You will have a demonstrated ability to lead an organization to achieve its goals and operate its services against rigorous service-level agreements.
Basic Qualifications
• BS/MS with a quantitative focus such as Mathematics, Engineering, Economics, etc.
• 7+ years of experience in quantitative modeling, management consulting, or investment banking
• Strong analytical abilities and high proficiency creating and managing advanced models
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Proven ability to manage large scale and complex projects with experience leading cross-functional projects
• Experience creating and setting annual operating plan and presenting to senior management.
