The Amazon Devices Analytics Team is currently looking for a talented data engineer to play a key role in implementing our next generation datamart solution and making use of latest machine learning and big data technologies to provide deeper insights about each of our devices and Amazon customers. Amazon has a culture of data-driven decision-making and demands business intelligence that is timely, accurate, and actionable. A data engineer should be able to develop, implement, test, document, and operate large-scale, high-volume, high-performance data structures for the Devices organization.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with traditional Data Warehouse (DW) concepts and have the aptitude to incorporate new approaches and methodologies while dealing with big data. Excellent business and communication skills are a must to develop and define key business questions and to build data sets that answer those questions. You should be able to work with business customers in understanding the business requirements and implementing reporting solutions.

This position, located in Seattle, will need to have substantial interaction with the analytics team located in Bangalore as well as stakeholders in EU and Asia. International travel may be required.


Basic Qualifications

- Minimum 6 years experience with RDBMS concepts and hands on working skills with Oracle/SQL server/MySQL databases in a business environment
- Deep hands-on knowledge in using advanced SQL queries, experience in writing and optimizing efficient SQL queries
- Experience in data visualization software or general UI experience (Tableau/Qlikview)
- Experience in BI projects converting business needs to data warehousing and reporting solutions
- Excellent communication skills to be able to work with business owners to develop and define key business questions and to build data sets that answer those questions
- Bachelor's Degree
Preferred Qualifications

-Experience in design and development of Data warehousing architecture
- Experience in designing and architecting large data warehouse systems, dimensional modeling
- Experience in big-data using Redshift, hadoop, hive, and/or other open-source tools/technologies would be a plus
- Some experience leveraging SAS, R or matlab to manipulate data and set up automated processes as per business requirement
- Experience in data visualization software or general UI experience (Tableau/Qlikview)
- Experience with AWS/Cloud based solutions
- Strong ability to interact, communicate, present and influence within multiple levels of the organization
- Masters degree
