The Employee Engagement Director leads our employee engagement agenda, in partnership with Human Resources (and other parts of the business), developing and executing a best in class engagement, employee and communications strategy to inspire all levels of the business.
Top Accountabilities
1) Develops and implements a market engagement strategy that links directly with our Diageo NA mission, performance ambition and CR strategy; drives high levels of engagement and nurtures our culture, while delivering against our employer brand agenda to attract/retain talent, amplifying purpose and embracing ‘future’ channels that encourage collaboration.
Develops HR narrative and comms strategy for the function
Where required, providing expertise and counsel in change, reward, crisis communications and culture communications, guiding and equipping leaders to execute effectively
HRLT: Sets agenda and plan for speaking opps, interviews, visibility internally and externally in service of corporate comms plan
Partner with external comms director on media outreach as needed (focus on trade media and external platforms)
Supports on communications and business engagement of DVS roll out (and results) and review results and headline outputs as required
3) In partnership with the VP, communications, creates and executes the employee engagement programme for Deirdre, the NA Exec and our SLT population – acting as a key adviser to our leaders on communication and engagement. This includes proactive leadership of our senior level communications and events.
4) Custodian of Brand Diageo, protecting and promoting our brand across all channels that reach our current and future talent in NAM. Manages an integrated comms approach to include, working in partnership with the Internal comms and Brand Diageo manager
LinkedIn ‘story’ strategy and activation, and other social channels
Inputting in to Global CR strategy with NAM EVP content
5) Provides proactive leadership and support to the campaigns/manager and comms ops director in creation of local team/functional employee engagement strategies that build on the team nuances, culture and Diageo NA mission
6) Leads on M&E approach for employee engagement. Bringing in external benchmarks and regularly measuring the ‘pulse’ of the NAM organisation against engagement metrics. Utilising Diageo Values Survey (inc. pulse) and Trust Tracker as early benchmarks.
Qualifications and Experience Required
Minimum of 10 years’ experience in employee engagement strategy, employee and change communications.
A progressive communications professional with a strong track record of performance building engagement and advocacy through effective employee campaigns in a global, multi-national and/or multi-market environment.
Experience of providing counsel to cross functional teams and leaders
Outstanding writing, exemplary project management and personal communication skills.
Strong understanding of digital collaboration tools, integrated content platforms and integrated stakeholder communications.
Ability to collaborate, lead and inspire, peers and stakeholders
Must have strong experience of analysing and utilising data and insights to drive performance.
Experience of crisis/issues management.
Undergraduate degree.
