Skanska is seeking a highly strategic Marketing Director that will be responsible for the strategic management of marketing staff and client deliverables for the Metro NY Region, based in New York, NY (Empire State Building).
This candidate will manage as well as produce client deliverables which include but are not limited to the facilitation and production of proposals, presentations and statement of qualifications and coordination of sales information/materials. This individual will also be responsible for the day-to-day effective management of the local regional marketing staff. The position requires travel between New York and Parsippany, NJ. This position reports to the Senior Marketing Director of the Northeast Region and works closely with staff at all levels of the organization to implement the firm’s business goals.
The ideal candidate possesses experience as directing and leading marketing efforts to position the firm well across a variety of markets sectors. The position requires strategic thinking, executing, excellent writing skills, strong graphical eye and a passion to learn, teach and develop a team.
Duties & Responsibilities
Manage-doer role. Responsible for leading and producing all marketing deliverables to position the firm strategically in the market.
Proactively translates innovative and strategic ideas into proposal content. This candidate must lead, manage, write and produce deliverables for client qualifications, proposals and presentations
Create external and internal deliverables containing feature/benefits and other audience-centered content
Assists in planning marketing strategies and goals for the region. Work with senior level executives and Sr. Marketing Director to develop long-term marketing plan and attend Sr. national leadership meetings as required and when necessary.
Effectively facilitate interview storyboarding and coaching/critique
Manages and develops local marketing team and is responsible for assigning, managing and the quality control of marketing activities and deliverables
Communicates corporate marketing strategies and goals with marketing team
Ability to interview team members and strengthen all sections of a deliverable, including project approach
Direct and oversee activities of direct reports
Generate reports regarding proposal activity
Hire and develop direct reports
Represent the firm at industry events
Identify new opportunities for promoting and branding the company
Member of Senior Marketing Team, expected to contribute to big picture marketing planning
Knowledgeable in construction and local/national competition
Act as a mentor on a national marketing committee
Provide introduction to Skanska marketing processes to new BDs/AMs/GMs
Participate in local annual business/sales planning
Conduct weekly marketing meetings
Tracks pipeline and ensure timely approvals
Enforce branding standards in all deliverables and collateral
Primary contact between marketing and communications, BDs, AMs and operations
Influence sales planning of local office
Support local project support groups
Plan and track annual trade shows, award submissions, major office meetings and college recruiting efforts
Oversee local budget
Hire and develop direct reports
Hold regular one-on-one meetings with direct reports
Responsible for employee satisfaction/morale
Anticipate and proactively mitigate risks
Establishes a diplomatic approach to maintaining internal partner relationships; does not need manager to resolve day-to-day issues
Represents firm to clients, business associates and industry-related organizations, as needed
Support the company’s overall sales and marketing efforts

· Highly experienced and proficient with Microsoft Office Suite Adobe InDesign
Experience organizing, managing and meeting multiple deadlines in an extremely fast-paced environment.
Strong written and verbal communication skills

Basic understanding of the Architectural, Construction, Engineering (AEC) industry
Experience responding to RFQs, RFPs and developing/facilitating presentations

Education and/or Experience
9-12 years of prior marketing experience in the AEC industry or similar capacity desired
Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism or related discipline
Experience in a similar high volume environment, preferably in the construction or design industry
Hold CPSM Certification or approved equivalent. If not, must be involved participates in industry associations.
