The Marketing function is actively driving strategic change across the company including revamping our online digital experience, contact management capabilities (CRM), event management, campaign management, visual communication design and our marketing business intelligence capabilities.
The role will be responsible for the technical components of these change-the-business (CtB) activities while also ensuring the existing run-the-business (RtB) services are stable and support the evolving business needs. The position requires three distinct roles to be effective: Business relationship manager (BRM), service category owner (SCO) and IT Marketing architect.

As the BRM, the role will partner closely with the Marketing leadership team to ensure close alignment between the strategic initiatives described above, the IT Marketing roadmap and the services and architecture required to deliver against those strategic priorities. The role will own and evolve the technical platform roadmap aligned to marketing’s strategic priorities, impacting not only marketing IT services, but also the broader customer-facing IT services. The BRM role acts as the single point of contact for the Marketing leadership team for all IT services.

As the Marketing service category owner (SCO), the role will be responsible for running and changing the portfolio of Marketing IT services. The position is accountable for running Marketing services effectively as measured by cost, quality, usage / adoption and risk. In addition, the SCO will be responsible for managing the team of Marketing service owners to ensure each service operates with a roadmap aligned to the strategic direction of the function. As part of the CtB efforts, the position will partner with the respective Marketing Directors to co-develop business cases which make the case to invest in enhancing or creating new business and IT services. Strong people management, vendor management, communication and technical program management skills are critical to making this SCO role successful.

As the Marketing architect, the position will be responsible for ensuring the right level of technical innovation is brought to the table to ensure our services align to our aspirations. Some services need to be best-in-class and leap-frog our competition, while others need to enable commodity-level operations but run cost effectively. In all cases, the role will need to ensure the technology and architecture are aligned to those aspirations. Specifically, this means building a common user experience for our prospects, clients, recruits, alumni and employees across devices by bringing together:
latest web design features
latest user experience techniques
mobile capabilities
client proposal and case delivery collaboration capabilities
BI and data visualization features
tight integration with the client product development architecture

This role will also work closely with the BSG and IT architect to ensure alignment across the enterprise architecture.

This role will be a member of the IT COO’s management team, reporting directly to the IT COO.

Job Responsibilities
Partner with Marketing to develop and maintain a 3+ year platform roadmap and associated target architecture plans
Drive technical program management of all large transformation initiatives. Current initiatives include CRM/contact management leveraging MS Dynamics platform and an ongoing initiative uplifting the online experience
Partner with Marketing to develop appropriate technical innovation, architecture and investment business case to deliver against best-in-class visual communication technologies and improve how our case teams deliver world-class expertise to our clients. Do the same for next level event management, BI and data visualization capabilities
Acting as the BRM, coordinate across IT service category owners and architects to ensure a common user experience and architecture is aligned with BCG’s online user experience and creates a unified external experience across our online marketing properties, our digital proposals, case and client collaboration capabilities, our client facing products and our digital recruiting and alumni services
Acting as the SCO, ensure we have the plans, resources, technologies and vendors to deliver against the strategic CtB roadmap and aspirations. Be accountable for delivering those programs aligned to scope, budget, time, resources and quality to deliver the benefits established in each business case
As SCO, actively manage the Marketing IT services and the respective service owners. The services in this service category include: all BCG digital properties (bcg.com, Perspectives, global and college specific recruiting sites, local sites, etc.), content management (Tridion), contact management service (MS Dynamics), event management (TBD), digital asset management (TBD), campaign management (Exact Target) and business intelligence services (PowerBI).
As SCO, provide active people management and vendor management across the portfolio providing strong recruiting and career development skills. Provide a vision for the group aligned to overall IT vision and Marketing vision to ensure team is driving the appropriate value for the firm while creating professional opportunities to your staff.
As part of the BSG management team, be an active participant in driving best practices to improve the BSG and IT functional overall. Current initiatives you can be involved in include establishing a new software development lifecycle (SDLC), driving our transition to a new IT service organization, improving our overall enterprise architecture and establishing a strong career framework and skillset to digitally enable the firm.
Be an active leader and participant in the local BCG IT Boston community and overall Boston based Global Services office community.
Basic Job Requirements Education or Certifications
Minimum of a Bachelor's degree in related field; MBA preferred
Work Experience
Minimum of 15 years of experience in an internal or external consulting role responsible for driving innovate marketing related and/or external facing change initiatives
Experience working for a complex global professional services organization in a senior business partnership role
Experience in establishing IT Strategy/vision for core company processes
Proven ability creating strategic business cases aligned to strategy for new investments
Proven ability leading marketing oriented complex agile change initiatives
Proven ability leading all or portions of a leading edge Marketing portfolio of IT services and related service offerings (e.g. applications)
Proven success in effective global virtual team and people management
Technical Skills
Common knowledge of leading edge web development tools, MS Dynamics (or similar CRM solution), Content management tools (Tridion or similar), Campaign management tools (Exact Target or similar), Business intelligence and Data visualization tools (PowerBI or similar)
Excellent program management skills
Computer Skills
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint
Language Skills
Fluent in English (written and verbal) – other language skills would be beneficial
Travel requirements (if applicable)
International travel as required to make strong business partnering and global change initiatives successful
