Global Data Center Energy Director Facebook Menlo Park

Facebook is seeking a Director of Energy to lead Facebook’s energy team in securing a cost competitive clean and renewable energy supply portfolio that meets Facebook’s overall strategic objectives. This role has overall global responsibility for the data center energy supply portfolio and leading the team that manages all aspects of energy supply, including: commercial, regulatory, market, technical, finance, and renewable energy development. This role is located at Facebook’s headquarters in Menlo Park, California.
Responsibilities

Grow and lead a global team of energy professionals dedicated to improving energy supply reliability, reducing energy costs, and increasing the amount of energy supplied through clean and renewable energy sources for Facebook’s data centers and corporate offices.
Communicate and collaborate with key leaders across sustainability, engineering, legal, and finance to share, develop and execute Facebook’s energy supply strategy for the company’s growing fleet of international and domestic data centers and offices.
Guide team members on approach to energy solutions in markets where Facebook has existing data centers and is expanding or optimizing, or in markets where Facebook is considering new investment.
Manage projections and budgets for energy cost and capital expenditures for investments.
Represent Facebook in meetings with executives from potential suppliers, utilities, governments, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
Recruit, on-board, and mentor internal energy staff and ensure robust learning and career development.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a business or technical discipline required. MBA or J.D. highly desirable.
15+ years of experience in the energy industry with hands-on experience with multiple electricity markets. International experience strongly preferred.
Proven commercial leadership and extensive negotiation experience.
Must have experience with developing and implementing renewable energy solutions, commercial arrangements, and financial deal structures. Experience with developing utility-scale energy projects preferred.
Working knowledge of utility and grid interconnection processes.
Highly strategic and capable of driving internal stakeholders to a consensus on important issues.
Strong analytical problem solving skills, be effective in a fast paced, hands-on work environment, and have a track record of success leading large, complex projects.
Exceptional interpersonal skills and ability to develop strong working relationships inside and outside Facebook.
Ability to travel domestically and internationally, approximately 25-35%.
