Director Strategic Partnerships Events Oracle Atlanta

This Director-level position will work closely on the strategy, messaging and evangelizing around Oracle’s startup and entrepreneurial ventures, reporting directly to Oracle Senior Vice President, Product Development, Reggie Bradford, who serves as a Digital Visionary for Oracle worldwide. The overall purpose of this position will be to drive global awareness, thought leadership, program participation and engagement, as well as drive perception around Oracle’s innovation and entrepreneurial spirit.
The Director will work hand-in-hand with Reggie Bradford and his team, as well as with key internal stakeholders, on the development of Oracle’s startup ventures and programs across Europe and beyond. The Director will assist with the strategy and evangelizing the messaging, awareness and execution around the program through active participation in the program’s operations; executing strategic sponsorships and speaking at key startup events; hosting key “dinners” with influencers; creating mini-events within Oracle OpenWorld and select CloudWorld(s); as well as ongoing thought leadership via Reggie Bradford’s active speaking activities worldwide.

The Director will work closely with Reggie and his team on strategy/execution of sponsorships around key startup events; strategy/execution on influencer dinners; strategy/execution at select Oracle events; as well as ongoing research and program development. Additionally, the team would work across Oracle to leverage opportunities with other teams – to drive education and internal awareness around the startup programs, as to create other advocates for the programs. The Director would also work closely with the PR team regarding Reggie’s PR, social media and speaking opportunities.


Skills and Requirements:
This successful candidate will need approximately 20 years of experience in event management/execution as well as developing strategic partnerships with external organizations;
Extensive experience seeking out and negotiating sponsorship opportunities with 3rd party organizers that allow Oracle to be showcased as a thought leader in the startup/cloud space;
A working understanding of PR and AR;
Experience working with and influencing senior executives both internally and externally;
Experience working in and interest in startups and the startup community;
Strong understanding of technology trends and innovation;
Prior experience in using social media for events as well as ongoing social marketing efforts;
Ability to research and stay ahead of trends;
Demonstrated success in working cross-functionally to achieve product, solution, and organizational objectives
Experience and ability to work across Oracle teams as well as knowledge of Oracle’s Cloud offerings;
Extensive experience with event execution;
Opportunity to manage direct reports.

Detailed Description and Job Requirements

Manage a team that acts as the central resource and driving force for the design, process, manufacturing, test, quality and marketing of product(s) as they move from conception to distribution. Organize interdepartmental activities ensuring completion of the project/product on schedule and within budget.

As a Director in the product development division, you will lead a team that defines product specifications and or strategy. Gather and analyze information to define product specifications and review design specifications. Envision and communicate product strategy and functionality. Initiate and foster relationships with other groups. Review product documentation and collateral. Ensure successful product releases based on corporate priorities.

Assists in the development of short, medium, and long term plans to achieve strategic objectives. Regularly interacts across functional areas with senior management or executives to ensure unit objectives are met. The ability to influence thinking or gain acceptance of others in sensitive situations is important. Demonstrated leadership and people management skills. Strong communication skills, analytical skills, thorough understanding of product development and product management. BS or MS degree or equivalent experience relevant to functional area. 8 of software engineering or related experience preferred.
