The R&D Director is responsible:
For directing the design and development of products from concept to commercialization and stabilization.
Ensuring a robust pipeline of products aligned to business strategy and deliver business results.
Demonstrating leadership in a non-traditional, non-hierarchical environment without extensive staff support.
Manage team leaders through the product development cycle to develop achievable project plans and budgets and to successfully deliver a product that is commercially successful. Prioritize and resource teams appropriately to achieve goals.
Develop technical and leadership skills of team members through on-going feedback and coaching.
Assess efficiency of product development systems, develop & implement improvement plans.
Work with senior management to develop Ethicon Endo Surgery strategy.
Collaborate with cross-functional leaders in the formation of optimal cross-functional teams.
Recommend cancellation of projects that will not meet set objectives.
Resolve conflicts within teams & between teams & other groups.
Support corporate Vision & Mission statements.
Qualifications
A minimum of BS in a technical field, required.
Advanced Engineering degree desirable
A minimum of 10 years experience in development, manufacturing or marketing of complex products is required
Track record of successfully bringing products from concept to market on schedule & within budget is required.
Management experience of cross-functional product development teams is required
Ability to balance schedule, cost & quality is preferred
Ability to Managing & developing others is required
Project management skills are required
Demonstrated maturity & leadership ability
This position could require up to 25% travel both domestic and International.
