Position SCF in the start-up world as the premier strategic venture capital investor in the areas of Device Solutions
Provide exceptional strategic value to Samsung Electronics leadership at CEO Office and BU leadership through intelligence gathered through investments, start-up activities and VC relationships
Build and maintain deep relationships with top VC’s with investment track record in Device Solutions
Build and maintain relationships with top thought leaders and academics influencing trends in DS markets
Investigate industry/market/new opportunities: Independently identify relevant companies to engage. Rapidly understand key dynamics of industries, and focus analysis on the most relevant trends.
Apply judgment to identify potential scenarios for transactions and for business outcomes.
Lead due diligence to support strategic projects: Prepare key diligence questions and get feedback from team. Set up interviews with target experts, and manage due diligence process. Work with SSIC Fellows and CTO team to drive answers to due diligence questions.
Assist portfolio companies with business development and collaborations with BUs
Qualifications
Strong academic record from a leading undergraduate institution, with a BS degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Physics or other applicable discipline; MBA or PhD from a top 5 institution.
Natural leader, with an ability to inspire team members and win over CEO’s, skeptics, executives on ideas, investment concepts and the ability to solve complex issues
10 years experience in a Venture Capital or Corporate Venture Capital role focused on the IT industry and related technologies (semiconductor, systems and/or software)
Deep relationships inside Samsung’s Device Solutions BU’s (VP and higher) with an established reputation and credibility as a valuable VC expert
A visionary on the future of technology and ability to communicate it clearly
Understand both Silicon Valley startup and Korean corporate culture
Established positive track record (positive IRR) of portfolio of investments having created strategic value with Samsung Electronics BU’s.
Critical thinker, with strong analytical and problem solving skills, and unafraid to state an opinion and debate it
Excellent interpersonal skills and strong presentation skills
Strong network of industry analyst and research analyst relationships
Entrepreneurial drive and self confidence to excel in a high impact, highly dynamic, and geographically dispersed team environment
High ethical standards
Travel will be required
