Save the Children, the world’s leading independent organization for children in need, is seeking a Director of Digital Fundraising Operations to drive significant revenue growth and engagement with supporters through digital, social and mobile channels. The Director is responsible for providing marketing leadership to fuel rapid growth in donor-based revenue from online channels. S/he will work closely with colleagues in Marketing and Fundraising to develop and measure strategies that attract, inspire and engage supporters.
Essential Duties, Responsibilities and Impact
In collaboration with their senior management, determines and communicates the Strategy and Operational Plan for their functional area. Accountable for achieving results in strategic and operational plan with management support. Budget accountability for functional area(s) or program(s). Responsible for setting clear objectives and measures for self and others. Exercise independent judgment and discretion on significant matters. After approval by their senior management, objectives are implemented independently, with management support, to determine accomplishment, key milestones and overall success. Functional based policy and practices exist. Incumbent is provided with the "why" and often determines the "what", but must always determine the "how". May interact directly with Senior Management at the highest levels in the Agency. May serve as an Advisor to Senior Management in specific area of expertise. However, most frequently provides information (either up, sideways, or down). Relates well to all kinds of people and builds relationships.
• Revenue Generation – Partner with digital business team leads to drive sustainable unrestricted income growth in digital channels through recruitment of monthly donors. Lead assessment of new digital marketing and fundraising strategies to grow and diversify the online donor-base. Align digital fundraising efforts and engagement in humanitarian emergencies to maximize revenue. Partner with product teams to increase retention through a compelling supporter experience. Lead strategic development of digital fundraising tests and conversion optimization. (25%)
• Digital Fundraising Operations – Analyze campaign metrics and key performance indicators to ensure best practices and lessons learned, and share these metrics/KPIs with senior management. Produce regular campaign and program analysis of digital fundraising efforts. Develop detailed digital fundraising analytics reports and benchmarks including competitor analysis. Work with vendors, peer organizations and colleagues across Save the Children globally to develop acquisition, onboarding and conversion strategies. Define key performance indicators and conduct in depth analysis reporting. (25%)
• Strategic Digital Fundraising Leadership – Lead and collaborate with cross-functional work groups to ensure offline fundraising , advocacy and other digital communication initiatives are fully leveraged and tightly integrated . Act as a thought-leader and champion for digital marketing best practices for the department and other organizational stakeholders. Collaborate with other revenue generating stakeholders on integrated campaigns, providing strategic and implementation support to initiatives as needed. Evaluate and recommend emerging digital fundraising and constituent engagement opportunities. Develop and encourage the use of mobile fundraising to generate funds and engage new donors. (25%)
• Supervise Digital Analytics Coordinator - Provide direct supervision, training and leadership to the Digital Analytics Coordinator. Manage direct report’s work and ensure deadlines are met; monitor performance and output; and conduct performance reviews. (25%)
Required Background and Experience, Skills and Behaviors
Candidates should have 10+ years progressively responsible experience in all aspects of digital, with a strong understanding of fundraising
• Proven success in delivering successful digital fundraising initiatives with demonstrated financial results
• Solid understanding and experience of integrating digital with offline campaigns (e.g. DRTV) to maximize performance and income and optimize future activity
• A proven track record in maximizing the effectiveness of digital marketing campaigns and platforms with a focus on conversion
• Expert knowledge of all financial aspects of digital fundraising/marketing including analysis of costs/income, ROI, conversion and attrition data and all other relevant KPIs
• Expert knowledge of budgeting, planning and performance management of digital fundraising/marketing
• Self-starter who uses initiative to see opportunities to achieve objectives in this role
• Excellent communications skills, both written and verbal
• Ability to drive projects through to completion
• Ability to work in ambiguous, highly matrixed environment
• An assertive and persuasive negotiator
• Bachelor’s Degree required
• Up to 15% travel may be required.
