Huawei Technologies’ Strategy& Business Development at Product & Solution is looking for an experienced strategy specialist in the areas of open source and innovation at Huawei US R&D Center. You will be responsible for working closely with and advising our senior leaders on the development and implementation of our corporate strategy.

This is a Strategy and Business Development role. The candidate should possess strategic technology vision, and be able to develop new business leads in the open source and its associated ecosystems, and be part of the corporate think-tank, to provide strategies, innovative ideas, to initiate and facilitate corporate changes, and be the change agents. In this role, you’ll be responsible for:

Providing input into the company's overall open source ecosystem, developer community build-up strategies, methodologies, evangelism, and strategic direction and drive key strategic initiatives

Providing and advising to leadership team on corporate ecosystem strategies, planning, methodologies, processes, tools, etc.

Attending and hosting Open Source Software (OSS) community workshops, hackathons, etc

Engaging with Open Source communities; Engaging with partner eco system, including companies, academia, VC, etc

Increasing Huawei's influence in open source communities by engaging with OSS communities, events, etc

Attending and sponsoring OSS community events and conferences

Setting goals with each individual internal OSS community and have a plan on how to maximize Huawei's business interests

Organizing workshops internally and externally to bring outside experts into Huawei internal team to exchange ideas, and bring internal experts to Huawei external to speak/engage with OSS communities, be the conduit and organizer/coordinator to facilitate interactions and help exert Huawei's influence into different communities

Gathering community and ecosystem information and conduct insightful analysis for each community in order to formulate corporate strategy on ecosystem build-up

Driving analysis of market trends, technology developments, and changes in customers' requirements to identify opportunities and risks impacting the company's business and formulate strategic responses to drive sustainable value realization

Coordinating input from all major business units to facilitate the integration of individual business unit plans with the corporate strategic plan on ecosystem build-up

Providing operational support to the business to ensure the success of corporate ecosystem initiatives

Implementing programs and initiatives to meet organizational goals

Utilizing tools, systems, processes, and procedures to increase department efficiency and effectiveness

Engaging with open source communities, third party analysts, consultants, and research organizations to execute research and bring independent knowledge and assessments into the company

Leading projects that require cross functional collaboration and manage stakeholder expectations; set deadlines; assign responsibilities; monitor and summarize progress; research requirements; recruit support as necessary and provide proposals on action plan, including the creation of success criteria and measurements

Developing, analyze and prepare information for senior management

Evaluating organizational issues; provide strategy and direction suggestions to the functional area leadership

The desired candidate for this role will have a demonstrated record of success in positions of increasing responsibility over the course of their career. An ideal background will include

Typically 10+ years of work experience in the IT and 3+ year in strategy

Ph.D. or M.S. in an IT is required and MBA is plus

Experience working effectively across highly-matrixed organizations

Experience in defining and driving programs

Strong verbal, written, analytical, and critical thinking skills

Ability to communicate comfortably and effectively including ability to present findings in formal and in ad-hoc situations and answer resulting questions from management

Ability to manage internal and external research and give clear directions and deliver on deadlines

Ability to meet deadlines to deliver insights on significant events in a timely manner

Ability to accurately reason, derive insights, and contextualize recommendations relative to competitors or market trends based on foundational data and research

Understanding of the company's corporate goals and objectives, markets, competitors, positioning, product portfolio and internal organization

Strong sense of teamwork and collaboration, particularly cross-organizationally and cross-functionally. Emphasis on building solid working relationships

Excellent interpersonal communication skills

Ability to work independently and exhibit comfort in ambiguous situations

Ability to maintain a proactive and positive approach to resolving conflict and or business issues
