Director Technical Services Strategy Cisco San Jose

This role will be fundamental to helping Cisco and TS navigate and realize profitable growth through this transformation. Working closely with Technical Services, Services and Cisco leadership, this role will ensure that we evolve and execute an innovative, market-driven, and fact-based strategy. This individual will lead a small strategy team to ensure we keep the TS business on top of market direction and evolve TS’ strategy by leading, overseeing, and influencing cross-functional strategy engagements and/or initiatives.
Deep expertise in leading strategy development and execution will be crucial; including outstanding diplomacy and collaborative skills to engage with stakeholders across the organization. This role will report directly to the Sr. Director, Technical Services Strategy & Operations, and will be supported by a 2-5 member strategy team staff.

The Director, TS Strategy will be responsible for
• Drive the evolution and ensure the market-in relevance of TS strategy across multiple horizons, in close partnership with TS and Services leadership; TS Product Management; TS Regions and TSSO
• Lead, guide, develop and mentor a small team of strategy professionals responsible for TS market and customer insights, and who will manage or contribute to key TS strategy development initiatives
• Engage closely with TS, Services and other Cisco business leaders (VPs and Directors) and other stakeholders to identify TS strategic priorities, frame the strategic questions, and structure and resource strategic initiatives to answer those questions
• Create a close partnership with Services and other Cisco strategy counterparts to engage in a broader strategy community and seamlessly resource and manage cross-functional initiatives
• Directly lead select strategic initiatives, and oversee and coach strategy team members in initiatives they are managing ensuring high quality, insightful, and impactful initiative outcomes
• Ensure the team stays closely engaged with TS Product Management, TS Regions and other stakeholders to identify, prioritize and share key market topics and associated insights
• Help the strategy team enlist involvement of subject matter experts and other contributors across TS, Services, and Cisco for strategic initiatives
• Develop, refine, and analyze metrics on the success of TS’ business in concert with other members of the TS Strategy & Operations team

Minimum Qualifications
● 8-15 years of professional experience, including corporate or functional strategy roles
● Ability to drive results through executive influence and consultative approach – focus on most critical issues and establish a pragmatic path to decisions and action
● Strong executive presence, presentation, meeting facilitation and communications skills
● High threshold for ambiguity, with ability to structure work and manage teams leading strategic and transformational initiatives
● Creative, out-of-the-box strategic and analytic problem solving skills, both qualitative and quantitative
● Demonstrated ability to work cross-functionally through sensitive topics in order to achieve business objectives
● Work Location: United States, San Jose preferable

Desired Skills
● Experience as a principal or engagement manager with a management consulting firm
● Experience in technology industry including shift from on premise and hardware to software and cloud models
● Understanding of Technical Services business, and ideally Cisco TS functions and business
● MBA strongly preferred
