The Director of Tax Planning and International Tax will lead the development of federal, state and international tax planning, and drive the implementation of strategic solutions for Bridgestone Americas. The successful candidate will be able to clearly communicate planning opportunities to senior management through written and verbal communication. This role will also lead international tax compliance, reporting and audit defense functions in the US and foreign jurisdictions.
Responsibilities:
Identify, research and implement US and local-country effective tax rate planning and cash flow savings opportunities and strategies.
Contribute to the company’s M&A process by performing tax due diligence and developing strategies for maximizing utilization of target company’s tax attributes.
Stay informed with respect to proposed domestic and foreign tax law changes, and determine their impact on the global organization.
Work with tax and finance leadership of Bridgestone Americas’ parent and sister companies to develop strategies that will deliver effective tax rate and cash tax benefits to the global enterprise.
Work closely with corporate treasury to efficiently manage deployment of overseas cash and repatriation strategies
Provide assistance and review of income tax provisions related to significant international subsidiaries in accordance with US GAAP
Assume ownership of the company’s transfer pricing process by establishing and enforcing policies for cross-border pricing, managing advance pricing agreements, ensuring compliance with contemporaneous documentation requirements in all jurisdictions, and developing sophisticated transfer pricing strategies.
Assume ownership of Latin American tax functions by communicating and collaborating with local country personnel responsible for tax compliance, tax accounting, audits and special projects.
Provide technical support related to tax audits and perform critical analysis to build audit defense strategies
Lead the income tax function of Bridgestone’s Canadian subsidiary.
Qualifications:
Required:
10+ years of overall tax experience
5+ years of experience with domestic and international tax planning
Experience with transfer pricing
Education: CPA, Juris Doctorate (JD), or Master of Laws (LLM)
Must have 5+ years of public accounting experience
Experience leading a team of accounting or tax professionals
Preferred:
Experience working in a Big 4 Public Accounting firm
3+ years experience working in a large corporate environment
