Goodman is seeking a professional, skilled individual for our Director, Purchasing role to be located in Houston. The Director manages and coordinates all activities associated with Procurement. The Director is directly accountable to lead the organization to a level of performance identifiable with World Class organizations, utilizing lean process and continual improvement techniques.
Responsibilities:
Manages the Procurement Team
Assure seamless product availability to support Goodman’s operational plans.
Develop a supplier management program with key vendors. This includes metrics, performance goals and improvement initiatives.
Insure consolidation and leverage of all common purchases to obtain highly leveraged contracts.
Oversee the management of the Purchasing and Inventory budgets.
Lead efforts to minimize the cost of common materials and services.
Develop forecasts for future demand and place timely orders based on vendor lead-time.
Build and maintain vendor relationships, including plant visits.
Coordinate purchasing needs with various departments and project managers. This may include assisting with dispute resolution, preparation of complex purchasing agreements with detailed requirements, and providing input on complex subcontract agreements.
Coordinate with estimating and project managers as needed to support the proposal and change order process, including managing, preparing, and evaluating vendor/subcontractor RFQs when necessary.
Manage purchasing staff, including recruitment, hiring, training, and development for best-in-class talent.
Manage workload balance within the purchasing department to ensure service levels and quality remain consistent.
Oversee the maintenance of accurate and up-to-date electronic price files for major distributors.
Oversee the processing and follow-up on material returns and credits.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree
Minimum 10 years of purchasing experience and 5 years managing people
Strong negotiation and management skills. Effective in influencing others.
Experience sourcing direct and indirect materials and services.
Strong understanding of inventory planning, forecasting techniques and operational systems.
Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
Detail oriented with strong analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving.
Strong interpersonal and leadership skills.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Suite.
