Work closely with Vice President and Major League Baseball Players Association (MLBPA) to oversee the development and execution of MLB’s international event plan. Manage the planning, development, and execution of MLB international events.
Work closely with Vice President and MLBPA on the planning, development and execution of the World Baseball Classic.
Major Responsibilities:
MLB Events
Manage event planning including identifying potential event promoters and partners in target markets, negotiating event terms, and developing and managing event budgets
Manage and coordinate overall event execution and operations
Coordinate closely with the MLBPA, internal MLB departments, external consultants and vendors to plan and execute events
Act as a primary liaison with event promoters and host organizations ensuring all event requirements are met
Develop and maintain detailed event management documentation including manuals, requirements, RFPs, event agreements, and budget pro formas
Role is expected to occupy 50% of total availability, but will fluctuate based on then-current events
World Baseball Classic
Develop and maintain World Baseball Classic venue selection documentation including request for proposal documentation, host venue requirements, venue agreements, and venue evaluation materials
Assist VP and MLBPA with venue planning and management including coordination of tournament ‘Venue Managers’
Assume role of ‘Venue Manager’ for tournament venues as required
Assist VP and MLBPA in tournament-wide planning including maintaining regular communication with coordinators from all tournament functional areas, developing and distributing status reports and project timelines
Assist VP and MLBPA with tournament budget development, management and reporting
Develop, maintain and review event-related legal agreements as required
Manage general tournament operations as requested

General
Analyze and recommend adjustments to planning processes and operational approaches to enhance cost effective “world class” event delivery by utilizing industry best practices and efficient operational execution models
Manage the use and development of event management systems (internal applications, online tools, and third party software as appropriate) that increase efficiencies, promote good communication, and drive best practice adherence
Work closely with VP and MLBPA on all general international event planning and development
Knowledge & Experience
Minimum of 5 years managing events including responsibility for project management, budget management, event planning, coordination of multiple groups and stakeholders, and contract negotiation
Broad understanding of sports business and the event industry and a strong knowledge of event industry best practices
A collaborator with strong interpersonal skills and problem solving capabilities, used to working at a fast pace, on multiple concurrent projects, with and for different constituencies
Passionate, methodical, flexible, highly productive and very detail oriented
Proficiency with common financial statements and quantitative data analysis
Excellent written and presentation skills
Spoken and written fluency in Spanish
Experience operating events in Latin America and/or for the Hispanic market in the United States is preferred
Graduate degree is preferred
Position will require extensive travel and frequent work on weekends
Reporting
Reports directly to Vice President and MLBPA International
