Job Description:
Reporting to the Senior Director G3O US Government and the Head of the G3O, the Director, R&D G3O programs will support the development of a portfolio of US contract & grant possibilities for J&J for R&D Research and beyond (Product Development, Scale up, Process Engineering, Clinical Operations, Supply Chain, Data Knowledge Management & MD&D). He /she will be expected to provide strategic and operational direction as it relates to US Government Contract/Grants programs.
This individual will provide knowledge management on grants and keep track of upcoming opportunities of potential interest to the targeted J&J population, engage in discussions with the different agencies, ensure (individual) grant/contract application support from exploration of the opportunities, definition of the possible asset, support proposal drafting and submission, be involved in award negotiations through to execution and contract close-out. The Director, R&D G3O will facilitate grant portfolio overview, governance and monitoring and enhance communication flows related to grants/contracts and PPPs in the US. He /she needs to closely collaborate with other functions including; legal, healthcare and Government compliance, finance, project management and procurement teams.

The Director, R&D G3O will also work in close collaboration with the Head of the G3O to become the regional point of contact for G3O in J&J and in communicating with and representing the G3O to Governmental agencies.

Qualifications

A minimum of a Master's degree (or equivalent degree) is required, preferably in a Life Sciences, Biotechnology, Medical or related field. Progress towards or completion of a doctoral degree (e.g. Pharm.D, PhD., MD, etc.) is preferred. A minimum of 10 years of experience in Pharma/Biotech and at least 5 years of project/program management experience are required (demonstrated experience with project management, program management processes and tools). Strong financial acumen and business case development experience is preferred. Advanced knowledge of IT and Technology, including the ability to understand Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC) processes and methodologies is required. Previous experience with grant/contract management of US government programs , training in Process Excellence, Six Sigma tools and methodologies or comparable processes is also preferred. Experience with Enterprise level organizational complexity is required. Excellent verbal and written communications skills are required. Strong leadership and organizational skills are required. Demonstrated ability to address then resolve issues and conflicts by communicating difficult information tactfully and diplomatically is required. Experience developing and documenting processes are strongly preferred. The ability to collaborate effectively (including hands on support for technical and financial teams) with all levels of the organization/management and influence decision-making across matrix organizations and outside J&J is required.

This position will be located in Raritan, NJ or Washington, D.C. and will require up to 15% travel.
