• 2-minute read •
Job Description:
We are looking for an experienced product leader to lead our payments platform at the cutting edge of mobile commerce, powering the collection and remittance of payments for users globally. The work enables users worldwide to pay for Uber services, partners across the globe to earn, and Uber’s financial system to perform best in class.
You’ll lead multiple cross-functional teams of product managers, engineers, designers, data scientists, and operational specialists to architect and innovate against Uber’s global payments system.

The ideal candidate will have several years of product management experience and a strong technical background with an engineering degree. The role requires the ability to conduct user research and collaborate across functions and organizations globally. We are looking for someone with an entrepreneurial mindset, strong problem-solving skills and the ability to quickly synthesize information to make decisions and set strategic direction in a fast-moving and dynamic environment.
Your team will build our:
Money Platform: The reliable, cost effective and secure system that underpins all our transactions and provides the innovative bedrock for all other money systems.
Rider Payments: Enabling our riders worldwide to seamlessly pay for their trips with their preferred payment method.
Partner Payments: Flawless driver payouts as on-demand as our transport platform.
Fraud and Risk Management: Pioneering the techniques and technologies to mitigate fraud and maintain the integrity of our money platform.
Partner Incentive Optimization - Creating systems that define partner incentives customized per city for maximum return on each dollar spent.
Forecasting - Building systems for forecasting of trips, riders, and partners, in every part of the world to identify the need for promotions and incentives budget.
Planning and Budget Allocation - Creating products and services that optimizes the budget spend for Uber operations.
Business Systems: Reliable reporting of, and intelligible insight into, our financial performance.

To be effective in this role, you’ll need to:
Plan and deliver the scalable products, organization, and strategies that power radical growth across Uber’s global footprint.
Internalize and deeply understand Uber’s strategy; align your team’s mission and roadmap.
Execute. This means being constantly biased towards action, knowing the data, understanding the ins and outs of your team’s projects, setting a high bar, building strong collaborative relationships with other teams, thinking boldly, disambiguating, always thinking of the user first and rapidly iterating towards something demonstrably awesome.
Recruit, manage, coach and lead a team of high caliber Product Managers in different countries. Ensure strong team dynamics, along with team and individual performance.
Rally different organizations — ranging from engineering to business development to finance — behind a common vision and goal.
Inform the executive team and key stakeholders, and guide them to make the best decisions.
Be incredibly truth-seeking. Collect whatever data is necessary to inform product direction, whether in the form of competitive intel, rider/partner behavior, or other business metrics. Solicit and embrace critical feedback.
Drive your cross-functional team to set qualitative objectives and quantitative goals.
Develop a vision for what’s around the corner and longer-term bets, and institute a strategy to get there first.
Clearly communicate product plans, benefits and results, as appropriate, to a broad audience: from internal stakeholders, to all Uber employees, riders and partners, and external organizations.

We’re looking for someone who has:
A computer science degree or equivalent, and hands-on software engineering experience.
10+ years experience leading product teams and 5+ years experience with shipping excellent global, high-scale, consumer-facing payment-related products.
Expert knowledge of global e-commerce payments, financial systems, and business intelligence.
A true user-centered approach.
A+ communication and collaboration skills.
A strong entrepreneurial bent. You never hesitate to roll up your sleeves and tackle something hands-on. You persevere when others fall away. You get it done. An unquenchable desire to help Uber be the fastest growing company in the world — underpinned by the best payment system.
Ability to recruit, manage, coach and lead a team of highly technical star-quality product managers. Ensure strong team dynamics, team + individual team member performance, growth and #superpumpedness
Employees are given Uber credits every month.
Ground floor opportunity with the team; shape the strategic direction of the company.
The rare opportunity to change the world such that everyone around you is using the product you built. We’re not just another social web app, we’re moving real people and assets and reinventing transportation and logistics globally.
Sharp, motivated co-workers in a fun office environment.

Benefits (U.S.):
401(k) plan, gym reimbursement, nine paid company holidays.
Full medical/dental/vision package to fit your needs.
Unlimited vacation policy; work hard and take time when you need it.
