Director Logistics Operations Mercy Festus

Job Description:
The Director of Logistics is responsible for appropriate placement of patients and staffing throughout Mercy Hospital Jefferson. He/she oversees the Float Pool, Patient Placement, House Managers, Nursing Service Office. He/she directs the use of contingency staffing on a day to day and shift to shift basis and is responsible for compliance with staffing regulations. The Director of Logistics reports to the CNO.
Education: Master's Degree preferred
Licensure: Licensed as RN by Missouri State Board of Nursing.
Experience: No less than five years of previous experience in significant management role in nursing.
Preferred Education: Masters degree preferred

Ensures timely movement of patients throughout the system, including patients in the
ED, Cath Lab, admitting department, PACU, direct admits, etc. Collaborate with
multidisciplinary team to ensure proper placement of patients. Rounds on all units to identify free beds: expedite discharges and inter-unit transfers as well as monitor associated processes- directs day to day operations of room decontamination program as related to room availability (40%)
Provides strategic and operational oversight of deployment of nursing resources
including centralized contingency staff
- Oversight of the NSO day to day operations
- Coordinates staffing to enhance throughput while maintaining standards of care
Monitors key metrics related to scheduling/staffing and identifies opportunities for
improvement. Works collaboratively with nurse leaders to develop appropriate action plans for improvement.
Develops policies and procedures related to scheduling/staffing which are consistent with all Federal and State regulations, and support safe staffing.
Oversees and prioritizes work of the Nursing Support
Prepares, analyze and distributes appropriate reports related to staffing and throughput
Identifies opportunities for improvement and serves as change agent for throughput/patient flow. Develops and applies protocols and priorities for appropriate patient placement.
