Job Description:
The Sr. Director, Public Relations — Buzz + Content plays a key role in supporting and executing the development and planning of consumer public relations strategies through a variety of vehicles that yield image-building exposure for Marriott’s Signature brands, Luxury and Lifestyle brands, Buzz events and partnerships, and Global Content Studio with consumer PR that helps redefine marketing in the travel industry.
This leader executes proactive PR campaigns resulting in quality media placements in global target markets for brands and its related partnerships and content that engage travelers. Additionally, this role partners with counterparts on the Buzz Marketing and Creative + Content marketing teams, that together engage a community of influencers and travelers by ongoing, authentic communication that to drive preference for brands and platforms.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education And Experience Preferred
4-year degree from an accredited university in public relations, communications, Business Administration, Marketing, or related major
10+ years of relevant professional experience in public relations, marketing, communications, or related function, demonstrating progressive career growth and pattern of exceptional performance.
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of consumer media, established network of media contacts particularly in travel, lifestyle, entertainment, sports, food and fashion
Proficient in social media and relationships with cultural influencers
Experience with high-profile events and personalities
Experience with leading PR organization as well as sourcing PR agencies
International experience a plus
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
Public Relations Strategy and Program Management
Participates in Consumer PR planning and delivery, from annual strategy development to opportunistic initiatives and major events as well as ongoing, daily PR implementation, related to Buzz and Content.
Integrates Consumer PR strategies into Global Marketing initiatives focused on acquiring new customers and building awareness and image across brands and platforms.
Supports Buzz and Content Marketing teams to develop strategic PR plan that bolsters the broader portfolio strategy across all brands and Continents.
Manages the PR strategy and related activities and initiatives, including development of annual PR strategic plans, including campaigns, platforms, messaging, positioning and content that promotes the Buzz and Content Marketing efforts.
Partners with PR team for Loyalty, Digital and Marketing Innovation with ‘one team’ approach to maximize exposure of key Buzz and Content stories.
Executes against an optimal publicity timetable and drives appropriate sequencing across a broad scope of initiatives.
Creates and pitches original, proactive PR campaign concepts to strategically build image within consumer travel and lifestyle, entertainment, sports, food and fashion outlets.
Identifies emerging trends in Consumer PR that can drive results and actively evolves teamwork to leverage new vehicles.
Engages third parties that can endorse image created by Buzz and Content initiatives.
Delivers excellent writing, message development, media training for spokespeople.
Executes against defined goals and metrics and delivers timely reporting to senior management.
Partners with Continent PR representatives in markets around the world and as well as Ritz-Carlton PR team.
Liaises with Corporate Communications counterparts to ensure coordinated scheduling of key announcements and campaigns.
Manages partnerships and agreements with external publicists and PR agency resources to amplify results.
Develops top-tier media/blogger/influencer coverage, including high-quality feature publicity in print, broadcast, and online. Leverages and drives public relations through content marketing, buzz marketing, and social media channels.
Effectively manages available budget and resources.
