You will lead a team of performance experts dedicated to overcome these challenges for all Shutterfly Inc. Brands (Shutterfly, Tiny Prints, Wedding Paper Divas, etc.). You have an extensive track record of tackling complex performance issues in large scale eCommerce systems leveraging strong knowledge in system fundamentals, big data, web scale services and content delivery.
You live and breath performance (front-end and back-end) and you have a passion to lead initiatives across organizations to improve performance holistically. You have an inspiring personality to shape Shutterfly performance culture as well as bringing innovation to the web industry. The successful candidate will report to the VP of Customer Experience.
Desired Skills and Experience
Requirements
10+ years experience in a web based performance testing environment
Leader on performance patterns and best -practices.
Ability to build and lead a team of senior performance experts.
Expertise in designing load patterns by understanding the production workload and business demand
Leadership driving performance strategy across organizations.
Expertise in understanding various components that comprise a test/production environment (Web/App/Database/Content tiers), Firewalls, Load Balancers, CDNs, etc.
Strong understanding of Unix/Linux variants, web network protocols, persistence solutions, large scale capacity planning
Strong collaboration skills to work with other engineering leaders to make sure performance and reliability is a top requirement for Shutterfly.
Ability to understand business requirement and convert it into performance needs including end user transactions management and workload
Expertise with Application performance monitoring tools like Dyntrace, New Relic, AppDynamics on analyzing load test results and finding performance bottlenecks
Experience in designing/modeling large performance tests
Hands-on experience in one or more scripting(perl/shell/python/java) and programming (C, Java) languages
Capable of technical deep-dives into code, networking, operating systems and storage.
Hands-on technical experience combined with strong management and communication skills.
