Director Kentucky Operations Diageo Shelbyville

Job Description:
The Director of Kentucky Operations will be the leader of all functions at both sites – Stitzel-Weller and the Bulleit Distilling Company, and will be accountable for Operations, Governance, Compliance, and People Management. This is role is primarily responsible for developing the strategy and for the overall program management of all strategic initiatives for all Kentucky based operations. It will ensure key ways of working are in place to deliver consistent and excellence in use of global manufacturing KPIs.
In addition, the Director of Kentucky Operations will assume critical leadership responsibilities, and will be expected to be role model inspirational leadership by engaging and developing a high-performing cross functional team. Further, the role will be responsible for the on-going, continuous development of the team and will play a strong coaching role for individuals and their development.



Key Outputs


Drive a Safety and compliance culture, identify challenges, establish priorities and lead improvement.
Partner with the current project team to prepare the distillery operations for Operational Readiness, including maintenance, operations, systems, organizational and supply chain
Lead start-up, commissioning and qualification of distillery with expectation to be fully operational by Jan 2017
Maximize performance of bottling operations and distillery operations through manufacturing excellence – service, quality, cost
Ensure flawless execution and operation of the visitor center at Stitzel-Weller, including providing support to Visitor Center staff, NA Brand, Innovation and Technical teams.
Ensure that project opportunities are aligned with the NA Whiskey Strategy
Develop collaboration between teams and people responsibilities
Communicate site information both externally and internally to employees (financial result, performance, challenge, impacts, strategy, mission, vision, community projects/initiatives)

Qualifications And Experience Required

Minimum 15 years of business experience with strong operations experience, managed plant operations, managed cross functional teams with multiple direct reports; preferably, in the Kentucky Bourbon distillation business.
BS or Technical Degree/Diploma in a relevant discipline
Requires excellent leadership, project management expertise, analytic/ problem solving skills and written/ verbal communication.
Must have a proven ability to distill out complex business issues, provide logical, compelling and clear plans for action.
Skills and ability to lead and influence organizational change; strong thought leadership.
Distillation and/or Brewing Background. Ideally, we would like this individual to have Master Distiller credentials in bourbon.
Ability to lead and manage projects.
Ability to direct multifunctional teams.
Demonstrated strong leadership standards and can build and lead high performing teams.
Has a strong commercial sense and can interpret business and customer objectives to provide excellent service and long term strategic thinking
