Director Development Store Design Construction L Brands New York City

Job Description:
Direct a team of designers to plan, design, and implement new and remodel stores in support of L Brands Real Estate strategy. Maintain design consistency and prototype integrity across all store projects and store types. Lead the development of new fixtures as required. Interact with construction, purchasing and finance partners to assure timely and cost-efficient project completion. Ensure that all projects quickly evolve in response to changing business conditions, design prototype, budgets, etc.

Responsibilities

Manage and coordinate department workflow. Liaise with team to monitor progress of projects and meet deadlines.
Oversee design process for each store from schematic design through construction documents. Review and approve store design plans and provide appropriate design direction. Liaise with VP to manage design approvals and coordinate landlord approvals with licensee partners.
Maintain branding guidelines while customizing as needed for store site conditions.
Provide on-going support to Brand teams to ensure store design concepts evolve and address the changing needs and priorities of the business.
Partner with multiple internal and external partners to manage retail projects from concept to store opening.
Explore new technologies and competitive retail patterning to continually evolve the store experience and environment.
Collaborate with other SD&C partners to share best practices and share experiences on common projects.
Travel as necessary to provide on-site design support.
Coach and facilitate in developing talent. Recruit and develop the design talent required for a world-class store planning operation.

Qualifications

10-12 years of experience in retail design in a corporate environment or in a design consultancy firm and hold senior level design experience.
Demonstrated creative abilities and excellent leadership skills essential.
Excellent analytical and communication skills to convey design ideas and intent.
Strong written, verbal and visual communication skills.
Excellent analytical and management skills to meet all project deadlines in an environment of change and shifting priorities
Experience with managing a team with diverse skill sets.

Education

Bachelor of Science in Architecture, Industrial Design or Interior Design from an accredited institution
