Job Description:
We are looking to add a leader to our Retail Merchandising Channel Team, reporting to the SVP Sales. In this key leadership role, you will be responsible for driving the success of PlayStation products in the retail market place. This includes strategy, tactics and programs to create interest, demand and recognition for PlayStation and its products through the use of Product Marketing, Creative Services, 3rd party partnerships, merchandising and product training and creating the maximum width of distribution. You are also responsible for helping to achieve the company objective of sales, growth, profits, and visibility while ensuring a consistent marketing message and positioning at retail.
Strategic Thought Leadership:
Working with key thought leaders to translate PlayStation products and messages into a compelling strategy differentiated by retailer
Lead the Retail Channel Marketing and Merchandising teams to translate these strategies and experiences into specific actionable plans and will manage to the overall group to successful execution
Creates an environment that fosters creativity, innovation, and partnership; articulates a “best in class” expectation every single day
Implementation:
In partnership with stakeholders, you will paint a strategic vision of what PlayStation should be in the retail marketplace and drive Retail Channel group to develop initiatives that support that vision that are unique to each retail environment
Constantly thinking of and generating new retail environment concepts that elevate not only PlayStation but the overall gaming category in key retail partners
Drives team and company-wide awareness of the competitive environment and opportunities to promote and sell PlayStation at retail
Utilizes analytics to measure success of programs and make modifications/recommendations for future programs based performance analysis
Management and Coaching:
Manage a team of 30 internal employees and over 100 field team staff to ensure the highest ROI on all sales programs
Lead the Retail Training and Advocacy team to ensure formal, customized training materials for education and development of retail sales staff
Actively create an environment in which the Retail Channel Team is pushing outstanding performance, both from that team and from partners
Holds all stakeholders accountable for results and ensures necessary analysis is undertaken to improve future initiatives/performance
Ideal Qualifications:
An organizational master; understands roles and responsibilities of the cross-functional teams and fully engages other partners to achieve objectives
A planner and a closer; Articulates the big picture plan and sets expectations of partners to deliver against it
Well rounded in all aspects of marketing and sales. Extensive knowledge of budgeting, analytics, P&L background, competitive strategies, channel marketing, merchandising, product marketing and strong training skills
Proven track record of taking key product features, benefits, messages combined with knowledge of retail and business analytics and define new strategies and tactics for the Retail Channel Marketing Team to exploit at their assigned retailers
Knowledge of and passion for the videogame industry
BS/ BA in Business, Marketing or equivalent related experience; MBA preferred
10-15 years Consumer Electronics experience with demonstrated history of accomplishment in the areas of Channel Marketing, Product Marketing or Sales Management as a senior leader, Director level or above
Experienced in developing and managing joint and coop funded marketing programs with retailers
Videogame category experience or retail buying/planning experience- a plus
Ability to travel up to 30% travel
