Job Description:
Leads execution against the Division strategy for Relay For Life for a defined geographic territory. Accountability for multi-million dollar income targets, as well as event-related mission and advocacy activities. Ensures goal achievement through the effective leadership and management of diverse staff, and the engagement, empowerment and mobilization of leadership volunteers.
Accountable for the achievement of income performance targets for Relay For Life for the assigned territory.
Manages, coaches, trains and develops a large team of Relay For Life front line community managers directing the execution of multiple Relay For Life events for an assigned geography. Provides necessary training, coaching, and support with a focus on community organization and relationship building.
Identifies and executes strategies to implement best practices that result in growth of event revenue in alignment with income plans; drives and encourages creativity and innovation.
Directs the volunteer engagement efforts to ensure the volunteer talent and capacity is available to execute volunteer driven community events across the Division; manages event volunteer leadership recruitment, leadership skill development, retention and recognition.
Partners with community, health system, & corporate and distinguished partnership leadership to determine market strategy and objectives for the Society’s Relay For Life community presence and engagement for the territory.
Directs utilization of community assets (local business, health care, education, organizations, faith-based groups, youth, policy makers) to drive increased participation - teams, team members, sponsors and survivor/caregiver.
Monitors progress against objectives; adjusts plans and manages contingency efforts and resources as required.
Develops strategy for leveraging Relay feeder events (Relay Recess, Field Day, Bark For Life, etc.) in the achievement of Relay For Life goals.
Works in partnership with Health Systems for achievement of identified event-related mission goals, including enterprise-wide initiatives. Provides staff training and support to deliver mission/cancer control messaging and within assigned Relay For Life communities and key constituents.
Works in partnership with ACS CAN, including efforts to increase ACS CAN membership.
Partners with enterprise support functions and ensures appropriate support is provided for successful execution of community events, including planning and continuous performance feedback.
Collaborates with Corporate & Distinguished Partners and Health Systems leadership staff to maximize event success; identifies and communicates opportunities to engage constituents from corporate, distinguished partners and health systems activities in existing and future events.
Utilizes and responds to customer satisfaction survey, comparative event and success factors data.
Executes annual budgeting and forecasting activity. Ensures compliance with ACS policies, including employment, risk management, event and cash handling, and financial controls.
Actively demonstrates and cascades the enterprise-wide mindsets: integrity, collaboration and stewardship.
Position Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree in related field and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred six years’ experience staff management/team leadership. Minimum five years fundraising experience.
Able to manage a multi-million dollar portfolio of events.
Able to cultivate relationships with targeted systems/organizations, including mobilization of a diverse population of community leaders and volunteers.
Strong market, community and constituent perspective.
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Demonstrated success managing mid-level managers in fundraising and mission roles.
Collaborative leadership, management, coaching and development of diverse staff.
Ability to analyze and integrate information from relevant sources.
Able to generate accurate income projections.
Ability to proactively monitor and adjust activities to respond to changing circumstances and priorities to meet goals.

Travel, including evening and weekend work required. Ability to lift 30lbs and engage in set up/take down of event equipment.
