Job Description:
As part of the Grains, Convergence and Dairy platforms, the position will be directly responsible (Solid line) for the management of a team of technical project managers charged with the delivery of the business agenda. As part of the F&V platform the position will provide capability and technical guidance to a team of technical project managers charged with the delivery of the F&V agenda (Dotted line).
Develop and deliver an aligned foundation and structure for technical excellence and capability among the TPM discipline specific for the Nutrition Category. Establish, harmonize and implement best practices in alignment with all R&D Platforms (Nutrition, Snacks and Beverages); plus D&A programs.
Develop, align and institutionalize a Capability program that will build project management as a discipline within the R&D function (3-5+ years). This includes training, process and systems.
Establish deep and broad knowledge of R&D category platforms, technology levers & regional teams/capabilities that will enhance working relationships of technical leaders to gain matrix resources to support initiatives at global, cross-regional and local levels.
Establish deep knowledge and partnerships with global functions & PMO to drive alignment, issue/resolution and Stage Gate expediency.
Identify & advocate Business Systems and Process Improvements within Accolade, including up to date documentation.
Lead a team of Technical Project Managers responsible for highly-complex technical projects including timelines, updates and for Technical Stage Gate Process compliance of projects.
Facilitate the definition of scope, project goals, resource needs, and success criteria for highly complex projects
Perform deep risk analysis for complex projects, resulting in risk registers, mitigation strategies, and communication plans
Strong understanding of linking research to business opportunity & influence SBP/AOP planning
Manage/oversee project budgets with solid line responsibility, advise on budgets for projects with dotted line responsibility.
Communication conduit across R&D Technical Teams and cross-functionally, Business, Supply Chain, Finance etc.
Influence: Ability to negotiate and drive for win-win outcomes
Leadership: Ability to lead and motivate multi-faceted teams
Qualifications:
BS degree in Food Science, Engineering, or Technical Field; advanced degree preferred
15 years' experience overall with 10+ years R&D experience
People management skills
Strong understanding & prior practice of Project Management Skills
Minimum of 5 years' experience in project management and PM tools (FMEA, RACI, Microsoft Project, Stage Gate, etc.)
3+ years in R&D management with global experience preferred
Experience in a consumer products research & development function a plus
Background in development and commercialization of new products strongly desired.
Familiarity with PMI methodology
Project Management Professional Certified (PMP) is strongly desired
Six Sigma Knowledge/experience a plus
Willing to travel globally
Understanding of both internal and external markets: Supply chain, Finance and strategic sourcing
Deep analytical skills, effective "synthesis" strategic skills and strategy articulation/integration
Global perspective and cultural appreciation
Influential and persuasive skills (vision and fact based)
