Job Description:
Leads the KFC US Division’s Architecture and Design team within the Development function. The position is responsible for providing strategic thought leadership, process ownership, and innovation to drive the brand’s asset strategies forward, including New Unit Growth, Remodels, and next generation Prototype development. Develop deep and meaningful relationships system wide with franchisees, cross functionally within KFC US, and across division (KFC Global and other divisions) and across brand (TB/PH). Establish and enhance processes designed to ensure KFC’s design standards are properly executed efficiently.
Desired Skills and Experience
Architecture & Design
Build the Brand through owning and driving KFC’s asset innovation and design strategies to deliver insights driven design that are contemporary, relevant, and cost effective.
Own the KFC remodel program Architectural and Design related processes, plans, projects, and issue resolution.
Own, maintain, and enhance holistic one-system image standard (American Showman) and related variations (including multi-brands)
Own, maintain, and enhance KFC Building and Site Design Reference Manual (DRM) and codify as brand standard’s library for asset
Ownership of all KFC corporate and franchise architectural plan submittal, review, and approval processes. Insure development activity is consistent with site registration policies, contractual obligations, and uphold integrity through standards compliance.
Drive and support brand’s new unit target through pipeline management, issues resolution, and insights
Develop and deliver effective one-system communication, productivity, and process through a combination of education, online tools, and third-party support.
Strategic
Own process and development of next generation prototype(s) platform, concept design, plan sets and supporting materials.
Provide concept design thought leadership to drive innovation, evolve existing design, and deliver breakthrough one-off projects.
Develop a sustainability platform for KFC’s assets. Partner with Yum and KFC Global teams on best practices, benchmarking, etc.
Provide thought leadership to help define and develop asset strategies and processes to drive profitable new unit growth and image upgrade pace. Engage with Franchisees and internal partners to find solutions to development barriers.
Provide concept design thought leadership, develop strategies, and drive innovation across asset platforms (including small footprint, inline, endcap, non-traditional venue) to drive KFC consumer access and convenience.
Drive process and discipline deep into the organization to deliver world class one system commercial business mindset and improve the KFC business model. Drive focus on cost management, value engineering, and investment returns using build smarter process.
General
Develop world class internal team and 3rd party support infrastructure. Coach and develop team, building bench and exporting talent.
Support processes and policies related to all Development Services offered to franchise system
Partner with marketing to insure proper brand positioning and consumer insights are incorporated into asset designs, artwork/graphics, and interior/exterior branding
Provide industry insights and competitive benchmarking to monitor and inform retail design trends and their potential application for KFC.
