Job Description:
This opportunity is for a manager responsible for Services and Web development in our new product technology area. As a member of the technology leadership team, you'll use your deep technical expertise and judgement to help set the technical direction for our products and then to coach and lead development and delivery on this vision in an iterative manner.
You'll need the soft-skills too; Communication, influence and passion are key to the success of the team and ultimately the company. You'll need to inspire your team and peers to meet the challenges, ambiguity and opportunities of building new products in an area with a vital and clear mission.
You'll get to learn about and leverage all of Amazon's technologies like EC2, SQS and S3, but it doesn't stop there. Audible's built on Amazon technology and you'll have insight into the inner workings of the world's leading ecommerce experience.

Own most/all of the services and web development within Audible’s new product area. Owning means envisioning, designing, creating, building and supporting. Our software needs to operate with a high degree of operational excellence (we measure EVERYTHING).
Lead a team of really solid SDEs and SDMs. Coach them in their career growth while building new products that will change the world.
Partner with product management to imagine, design, develop, test, and launch software that wows our community and inspires our peers.
Be willing to explore and learn un-prompted. Bring problems AND solutions to the table.
Lead the way - Lead means staying up to date with tools, trends, technologies and best practices both industry-wide and within Amazon and then sharing that knowledge in a meaningful way with the community.
A proven track record as a software development manager, including 10+ years of technical experience as software developer, software development manager, technical program manager, or related role
A proven track record of software delivery through all phases of development
A proven track record of hiring and developing software engineers and managers to create a continuously improving high performance teams
Ability to communicate and influence at all levels, from the new college hire engineer to an executive audience
Experience taking a leading role in building complex software systems that have been successfully delivered to customers
Hands-on expertise in many disparate technologies, typically ranging from front-end user interfaces through to back-end systems and all points in between
