Job Description:
The position supports MetLife's Statutory Reporting accounting and reporting functions as it relates to various management related functions. Coordinates with team for successful completion of state exams and required filings, oversight over policy and RBC related functions and review/preparation of the financial statements/schedules and participation in unit projects to maintain and improve business continuity. Works with reporting requirements and guidelines of applicable regulatory agencies to maintain records, prepare required financial reports.
Functional Responsibilities: Primarily responsible for the accounting, examination and reporting tasks to include:
Quarterly and year-end regulatory reporting, financial statements and related information. Including but not limited to oversight/coordination of the state examination process and coordination of completing regulatory filings.
Interaction and coordination with the lines of business, administrative areas and other MetLife Departments both locally and globally to ensure needs are being met.
Process improvements, ongoing initiatives and projects to streamline team procedures and activities.
Implementing accounting changes to comply with regulatory accounting changes or filing changes.
Lead various corporate initiatives as needed to improve overall performance
Supervisory Responsibilities: Full people management responsibilities, including 2 or more teams of professional accountants performing daily work, reviews, training and guidance to people managers and staff as needed.
Basic Required Qualifications
High School Diploma or Equivalent
10+ yearsexperience in financial accounting and reporting with at least 4-5 years of leading people/projects.
Key Competencies, Qualifications And Skills, Preferred
BS/BA in Accounting
Completion of, or working towards CPA, MBA or CMA highly desired.
Insurance industry experience preferred
Ability to handle multiple tasks and deadlines
Continually meet established deadlines.
Excellent oral, written and interpersonal communication skills, strong analytical and problem solving skills.
Ability to modify and develop procedures and policies to meet reporting needs/requirements.
Strong leadership skills including ability and willingness to provide honest feedback
Strong knowledge of STAT and GAAP accounting & reporting
