Job Description:
Director of Production to lead our Production function from our Manhattan headquarters. It’s an exciting role that impacts all of comiXology end users by delivering high quality comics using our cinematic guided view technology. Leading a team of supervisors, this role collaborates closely with all departments particularly technology, product, and marketing/business development. Reporting to our SVP-Business Development & Operations, this position is a member of the leadership team that makes key decisions for the company’s operational strategy and direction.
The Production Department Ensures The Seamless Flow Of Digital Book Content And Metadata Throughout The Digital Supply Chain From Publishers To Customers. Production Teams
▪ Maintain ongoing relationships with publishers and work with them to solve technical and operational problems relating to digital content creation, onboarding, ingestion, metadata (including XML and Onix), file formats and quality, pricing changes, including limited-time promotions, and content ingestion and management portals specific to Amazon and to help define and adhere to best practices in these areas.
▪ Ensure that new books are properly released for sale with correct pricing, metadata, and file quality, which requires aggressive real time monitoring and quality assurance.
▪ Use new technology and innovate processes to improve how we ingest and deliver content.
▪ Timely provide data and information to other Company departments, principally Business Development and Marketing.

What You’ll Do
Lead, coach and manage the team of Production supervisors, each responsible for their own Production group. This includes:
Production Coordinators, who are responsible for working closely with US and international publishers to deliver comic content across comiXology platforms.
Launch/ QA team, which ensures the highest quality standards for daily releases, and
Digital Editors, comic book professionals responsible for presenting comics to maximum advantage using our proprietary Guided View technology.
Establish and maintain department procedures; provide/coordinate necessary training and implementation for the team.
Partner with Marketing and Business Development teams to establish new publisher launches, implement merchandising initiatives, and meet business objectives and contract terms, on both the comiXology and Kindle platforms.
Establish relationships and drive integration of best practices and processes between comiXology and the Kindle organization. Oversee team’s migration to an entirely new CMS and workflow system.
Work closely with Product and Tech teams to maintain and improve CMS; implement new procedures in order to adapt to new requirements.
Develop/maintain performance and success metrics to grow an operationally strong production team.

Tech savvy, including strong familiarity with technologies used in digital book content production (such as HTML, XML, and Adobe acrobat), strong technical aptitude and familiarity with digital media distribution, formats and platforms (such as FTPs), strong data extraction and analysis skills (including SQL and spreadsheet software) , and strong technical aptitude and familiarity with digital media distribution, formats and platforms.
Strong knowledge of the major mobile application ecospheres, including iOS and Android.
Record of quickly mastering new tech systems and processes.
Record of success in strategic thinking and problem solving.
Desire and skills to dive in alongside the team when needed.
Credibility to be the external face of the Company when necessary to address critical issues with publishers.
