Job Description:
The Director of Design and Construction Services is responsible for leadership and oversight of engineering, renewal, stewardship, major repairs/renovations, and new construction activities conducted on campus. This will include engineering (on call) professional services, 3rd party commissioning agents, and job order contractors (JOC). This position is responsible for internal craft and craft supporting shops who perform renewal, stewardship, large maintenance, major repairs, and minor new construction for campus facilities. This position is also responsible for oversight and procurement processes for campus JOC process, construction contracting, and indefinite delivery/indefinite quality (IDIQ) contracts.
Regular, reliable, and non-disruptive attendance is an essential job function of this job, as is the ability to create and maintain collegial, harmonious working relationships with others.

BachelorĂ¢s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field
At least ten years of experience where project development, engineering, design implementation, and construction were a key responsibility
At least three years of demonstrated supervisory leadership experience in a similar engineering/construction organization

Preferred Qualifications
MasterĂ¢s degree in engineering, construction management, architecture, or a related field
Diverse background and experience in many areas of the construction field
Experience with construction methods in order to understand the day to day communications related to construction conditions and problem solving
Familiarity with Building Information Modeling (BIM) processes
Demonstrated good results with contractors, design professionals, campus, and other clients
APPA Educational Facilities Professional (EFP) or Certified Educational Facilities Professional (CEFP) and/or IFMA Facility Management Professional (FMP)/Certified Facility Manager (CFM) credentialing
Professional registration as professional engineer (PE) or registered architect (RA)
Knowledge Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of contract formulation and contract law
Accounting background and knowledge
Ability to understand complex budgets and funding source methods
Personnel management knowledge, training, and experience
Knowledge of construction companies and design office operations
Good communications skills along with patience and a broad-minded collaborative approach to problem solving
Ability to liaison with governmental officials at all levels to maintain good relations, ensure compliance, and to enhance future goals
