Job Description
Provides leadership and direction through managers. Is accountable for the performance and results of a region or related job families. Executes segment/functional business plans and contributes to the development of segment/functional strategy. Decisions are guided by segment/functional strategy and priorities. Directs and controls the activities of a broad functional area.
Key Responsibilities
Directs a large Mechanical Engineering group in Etch, responsible for the design, development and implementation of complete engineering programs in accordance with project budgets and release schedules. Responsible for professional development, team building, defining organizational roles, hiring and retention.
Works with senior business group management team to ensure that such programs, strategies, and processes are aligned with the organization’s direction
Anticipates future needs and initiates the development and implementation of new approaches to mechanical engineering design and development
Interfaces with internal and external customers on unusually complex mechanical engineering issues to address customers High Value Problems (HVP) for the unit's product line
Develops long-range plans and creates mechanical engineering or product specific strategies to reach goals and reviews engineering specifications
Defines performance metrics and reports on the mechanical engineering groups progress against specific goals
Provides approval guidelines and leadership to reporting engineering managers in the area of long-term program, strategy, and process design
Assures that a full range of technical reviews are held for the unit's product line
Qualifications
Education
Requires experience in semiconductor capital equipment and tool development
Must have both managerial experience with direct reports along with being a hands-on designer
Broad Engineering background with a variety of disciplines. Etch experience a plus.
Experience in Plasma, RF and Mechanical Design
Prefer Masters or PhD in Mechanical Engineering or related
15 Years of Experience should include 5 years in a management capacity
