WXIA-TV, the NBC affiliate in Atlanta, is seeking a full-time experienced, creative, technically savvy, outside-the-box-thinking automation Director. Candidate must possess excellent communication and organizational skills; must work under pressure and be willing to deal with several changes during a live show or newscast. We are looking for a team player and a team leader who has had recent experience running an automated system during a fast paced, graphics intensive newscast. Our newscasts are not formulaic, therefore, candidate must always be thinking of creative ways of executing production during live shows and pre-production. Flexibility in work schedule is required.
Specific Responsibilities
Operate Sony’s ELC live automation system during newscasts
Combo direct and TD special events and pre-production
Build special effects in switcher to enhance production
Execute clean newscasts while keeping a pace expected by production managers
Meet with show producer for every show, review needs and suggest ways to execute particular elements
Requirements
4 year college degree
4+ years experience directing and TD’ing live news productions
2 years experience with an automated control room system
Proven experience with a Sony switchers, including understanding of effect building, DME’s, macros, file maintenance and frame memory
Experience with Bit Central playback system or a similar server based playback system
Experience with Miranda graphic machines
Experience with Newsticker
