Job Description
NCR is seeking a Director of Public Relations to nurture a strong industry network, increase awareness and develop an enviable corporate image by developing and executing effective communication and media relations programs. As part of NCR’s reputation management, the role involves leading issues on management activities, coordinating planning and acting as the company spokesperson.
Responsibilities:
• Develop media relations strategy, seeking high-level placements in print, broadcast and online media
• Coordinate all public relations activities
• Direct social media team to engage audiences across traditional and new media
• Leverage existing media relationships and cultivate new contacts within business and industry media
• Manage media inquiries and interview requests
• Create content for press releases, byline articles and keynote presentations
• Monitor, analyze and communicate PR results on a regular basis
• Manage the PR aspect of a potential crisis situation Team Management:
• Manage a team of individual contributors and/or managers, ensuring that each reaches his or her potential.
• Provide guidance, direction and support as needed to drive best outcome for the company and for the individuals on the team.
• Ensure that team members have a clear understanding of expectations for their roles and responsibilities.
Desired Skills and Experience
Basic Requirements:
• 10 plus years’ experience extensive, hands-on and demonstrable experience in public relations and corporate communications.
• Experience in driving high-technology and corporate communications messaging platforms and programs.
• Proven success in building corporate positioning for C-level executives, as well as developing profiling and thought leadership programs for a publicly listed, global company.
• An understanding of the media and what types of stories will resonate with them in order to generate coverage and build a positive brand for the company.
• Strong experience with business press as well as technology & industry press.
• Strong issues management experience and judgment.
• Strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
• Comfort level working under tight deadlines with the ability to gather, information, and present recommendations to executives and respond to media outlets.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize work load, project manage, and display high-level organizational skills.
• Strong listening, creative thinking, influencing and relationship-building skills in a project-driven environment.
• Ability to communicate and interact across position levels, including executive leadership and senior management.
• Fast-paced and self-motivating working style.
• Team oriented with a collaborative style.
• Undergraduate degree in Public Relations, Journalism, Communications Arts, or Marketing or related field and/or extensive equivalent combination of education and experience.
