Director Engineering Programming Spotify New York City

Job Description
We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the Programming engineering organization that focuses on using the deep knowledge Spotify has about our content and users, and using this knowledge to create innovative and personalized programmed media experiences (Browse, Radio, Discover Weekly, …) . This organization is mainly located in New York with some activities in Boston and Stockholm.

In addition to this functional responsibility you will also have the managerial responsibility for the New York engineering team that includes some activities not related to the Programming engineering organization.

What you’ll do
You will be responsible for using Spotify’s deep knowledge about our content and users to develop rich and personalized programmed content experiences.
You will lead first line managers as part of a matrix organization of more than 40 people.
You will support and enhance the Spotify culture within your organization.
You will help grow and develop a strong engineering presence in New York.
You will be based in New York but should also be ready for some travel to Boston and Stockholm.
Who you are
You have previously been leading a cross-functional engineering organization of 40 people or more, preferably with an experience managing distributed teams.
You are experienced in developing and supporting servant leaders, and growing the whole engineering team.
You have experience in fostering and growing a strong engineering culture in an agile and devops environment.
You have experience in Big Data and machine-learning technologies.
