Job Description
We are looking for a Director of Engineering to lead the Knowledge engineering organization that focuses on building deep knowledge about our content and users, and exposing this knowledge to other teams in the tech organization so that these teams can build rich personalized experiences. This organization is mainly located in Boston with some activities in New York and Stockholm.
In addition to this functional responsibility you will also have the managerial responsibility for the overall Boston engineering team that includes some activities not related to the Knowledge engineering organization.
What you’ll do
You will be responsible for delivering datasets and services capturing Spotify’s deep knowledge about our content and users to other teams so that they can develop rich content experiences.
You will lead first line managers as part of a matrix organization of more than 40 people.
You will support and enhance the Spotify culture within your organization.
You will help grow and develop a strong engineering presence in Boston.
You will be based in Boston but should also be ready for some travel to New York and Stockholm.
Who you are
You have experience mediating and resolving conflicts and building alliances in large cross-functional organizations.
You have previously been leading a cross-functional engineering organization of 40 people or more.
You are experienced in developing and supporting servant leaders, and growing the whole engineering team.
You have experience in fostering and growing a strong engineering culture in an agile and devops environment.
You have experience in Big Data and machine-learning technologies.
