Job description
The Director of Tax Operations will lead continuous process improvements and integration of various aspects of the tax reporting function to achieve optimal efficiency, maintain effective controls, and deliver reliable results. Responsibilities will include maintaining current awareness of financial reporting guidelines and advising on pending tax accounting pronouncements applicable to company operations. This role will report to the VP of Tax and will be based in our Headquarters.
Specific Accountabilities
Under the direction of the VP of Tax, lead the global compliance and reporting function including coordination of the income tax audit with external financial statement auditors.
Lead the consolidated global tax provision process in accordance with ASC 740 for quarterly and annual SEC reporting. Team with Accounting, Finance and Treasury functions to ensure data flows are effective and appropriate to ensure appropriate income tax accounting is reflected in the financial statements.
Oversee the implementation and execution of tax internal control processes.
Develop, document, implement, and/or maintain relevant tax accounting procedures. Manage the implementation and maintenance of tax accounting /compliance software applications.
Oversee the federal, state and foreign income tax compliance for group companies. Assure timely payment of taxes and filing of tax returns.
Identify tax planning opportunities to manage or improve federal, state, and foreign country tax liabilities or tax filing positions.
Participate in management of federal, state, and foreign country tax audits, coordinate responses to inquiries & notices.
Assist with tax due diligence related to acquisitions, divestitures, mergers and reorganizations.
Research and evaluate federal, state, and foreign country tax impacts of new transactions.
Oversee sales and use tax, and other indirect tax returns and manage related tax audit
Desired Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited university in Accounting or Finance with an advanced degree in Tax is preferred.
Current CPA license is required.
A minimum of 10 years combined experience in public accounting and in a U.S. public multinational company.
Proficient in ASC 740, corporate income tax, transfer pricing, stock based compensation, accounting for foreign operations, business combinations, and management of uncertain tax positions.
Current experience with tax and financial accounting software applications such as SAP, Corptax, OneSource & Hyperion.
The candidate must have significant knowledge of US federal and state income tax, possess strong issue recognition, be proficient at tax research, and have excellent presentation skills.
The candidate must have outstanding communication skills and have the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities.
The candidate must be able to recruit, manage, mentor and lead a team of tax professionals.
