Job description
Rackspace is currently seeking a Director, Program Management that will be responsible for building, developing, and leading the program management function through strategy definition and development, growth, and people leadership.
KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITY:
Operates well in an environment of rapid change and is comfortable operating with autonomy.
Demonstrated strength in technical environments with Agile approaches.
Demonstrates a contagious enthusiasm and deep knowledge of process improvement.
Financial skills to develop track and report on the project budget.
Skilled in coaching, portfolio curation, risk analysis, project reporting, and tracking.
Ability to operate as a leader teacher by coordinating and influencing resources across departments, divisions, and geographies.
Working knowledge of the development of major project planning elements, to include scheduling, resourcing, communication, and implementation of plans.
JOB COMPLEXITY:
Builds and executes a Program Management strategy for Rackspace.
Leads a team of high performing Program Managers as they work with cross-functional Rackspace teams.
Anticipates issues and manages risks in collaboration with Engineering, Marketing, and Operations.
Establishes methods and metrics for tracking performance and making decisions within the Program Management Team.
Develops and documents Rackspace business processes.
Reviews and fully understands all project requirements (business and technical).
Helps prioritize team activities and drive resolution of issues/dependencies.
Helps establish processes for team members to ensure project goals are met.
Pushes the boundaries of how Program Management is done, driving change, and developing best in class performance.
EXPERIENCE/EDUCATION:
High school diploma or equivalent required.
Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related comparable experience required.
MBA or related graduate degree preferred.
Requires 10 years of technical Project Management including a minimum of 5 years of management and leadership experience in a structured Program Managment Office.
Experience building out and leading a successful program management team.
Experience applying industry-recognized project management methodology and tools.
Project certification, such as PMP, Six Sigma, Lean Process, etc.
OpenStack experience preferred.
