Job description
The Director of Network Operations will join our technical operations group and be responsible for building, managing, and maintaining the people and technology systems that make up one of the largest collections of online parenting resources. The successful candidate will be a hands-on technical expert with solid technical skills in a variety of areas, including on premise and cloud-based infrastructure, Linux operating systems, virtualization, networking, security, and system automation.



Responsibilities

Handle all aspects of website and service availability. Manage a 4-person team of DevOps Engineers and System Administrators responsible for all aspects of on premise and cloud technical environments. Work with Engineering and Product teams to design and build infrastructure to support new products and systems. Proactively scale existing infrastructure to continually increase capacity and support business goals. Lead troubleshooting efforts and post-mortems with production and non-production systems, interfacing with development teams as necessary. Instrument and monitor servers, databases, and network infrastructure for proper operation and performance tuning. Participate in a 24/7 on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree or higher. 10+ years of experience in a technical operations role with 3+ years of management experience. Excellent written and oral communication skills. Proven ability to administer, manage, maintain, and upgrade, at a high level of competency, a variety of technical platforms, including: CentOS or Red Hat Enterprise Linux; Software configuration management (Chef, Puppet, CFEngine); Apache web server: Installation, configuration, tuning; Tomcat application server(installation, configuration, tuning); Nagios, Cacti, Graphite SmokePing, or other monitoring and trending systems; Load balancing solutions (Netscaler, BigIP, or HAProxy); Version control systems (Subversion or Git); Content delivery network (CDN)- Configuration and tuning. Virtualization technologies (specifically VMWare); MySQL database systems (including high-availability setup and tuning); Cisco network equipment; Amazon Web Services (EC2, S3, RDS, ELB).
